Dear Friend
Soon it will be Christmas.
We celebrate the birthday of Jesus, it is a big build up. It is planned and organised by us, all our presents are bought, all our food has been cooked.

But the birth of Jesus was planned before time began, Jesus came in God's time.

All of history rests on the birth of this little baby, God speaking after 400 years.

He came to bring life, he came to bring us the love of God.

But he came in human form, he had to enter our world. His conception was supernatural, his birth was natural. He was born humbly.

He lived an ordinary life, perfect in every point.

He died an atoning death and rose again through his resurrection to give life to ungodly sinners.

Have you trusted Him?

To everyone, who has received and replied to my devotions over the last year.

Thank you so much
With love and blessings at Christmas and always
Keith and Family.

THE LOVE OF GOD

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life…John 3:16.”

As we reflect upon this blessed Christmas season and the New Year to come, let us be thankful for God the Father who so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. What joy and gratitude flood our hearts for the personal relationship we have with Him each and every day.

Indeed

“The love of God is greater far than tongue or pen can ever tell. It goes beyond the highest star and reaches the lowest hell. The guilty pair, bowed down with care, God gave His Son to win; His erring child He reconciled and pardon from his sin. O love of God, how rich and pure! How measureless and strong! It shall forevermore endure the saints and angels’ song.”

What glorious words of truth penned by Frederick Martin Lehman so long ago but so relevant today. It is our hope you have made room in your hearts for the babe lying in a manger where God displayed for the whole world His Love for mankind. That child in the manager is the King of Kings, the Lord of Lords, and the Son of the Living God. In Him alone, are forgiveness, abundant life, and life eternal. Make room for Him today.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Bruce and Kathy

THE MOST FORETOLD EVENT IN HISTOR

“But you, Bethlehem Ephratah, you are little to be among the clans of Judah; [yet] out of you shall One come forth for Me Who is to be Ruler in Israel, Whose goings forth have been from of old, from ancient days (eternity). Therefore shall He give them up until the time that she who travails has brought forth; then what is left of His brethren shall return to the children of Israel. And He shall stand and feed His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord His God; and they shall dwell [secure], for then shall He be great [even] to the ends of the earth…Micah 5:2-4.”

The birth of Jesus is probably the most foretold event in history. There are many prophecies stating various details about his birth. One of the greatest is about his birthplace and this is in the prophet Micah. Surely He was going to be born in Jerusalem. After all, that was God's city, the home of the temple, but the privilege went to Bethlehem.

The birth of Jesus was planned in meticulous detail, everything was done in order. The choice of Bethlehem tells us something about what God uses, it is not the biggest that gets used, and it is not always the loudest and most glamorous that gets chosen. Bethlehem was a backwater, it was somewhere that people passed through, when we are on the freeway/motorway, we go past towns and say, “Well there is nothing there. It is of no relevance.”

Your town sometimes has plaques placed up for its most famous residents or people who were born there, and so has Bethlehem. It is the birthplace of the ONE; the one true Savior/Messiah/Redeemer. The sign in Bethlehem today is JESUS WAS BORN HERE. So if you think your life is a backwater, that no one else notices, take heart, the sign on your life is JESUS LIVES HERE and by Him living in you, you can share Him with others. Jesus was born in Bethlehem and that town has shared him with the world. They have shared the Savior. Now it's your turn.

Who are you going to share Jesus with this Christmas?

God bless you, Keith

Who am I?

I am an ordinary Christian just like you and me, I love to study the scriptures and share what God shows me. I am from the UK, and at present live in Nanjing China. I am an English teacher. I have been saved from my teenage years, am now eligible for Pension.
I believe the whole of the bible, especially love the five Solas of the reformation.

I am saved by GRACE alone by FAITH alone in CHRIST alone through the WORD OF GOD alone for the GLORY OF GOD alone.

Good devotional. You have a lot of good ones, brother in Christ.

Also I learned recently there's more to choosing Bethlehem too: The wealthy, the elite, the educated, (probably the pretty), & the powerful lived down by Jerusalem. This wasn't just picking a town w/ few people. This was picking a town the mob rejects. You wouldn't have dreamed of moving to Bethlehem. If you were a Somebody, you'd move to Jerusalem. These days I don't think we really have comparison of wanting to move to one city over the other, but we do sometimes have the same dreams that those living in Jerusalem would've had over those living in Bethlehem.
In The OT God says he's picking Bethlehem b/c it's small. He's picking it b/c the world doesn't pick it. He must have a soft spot the small in spirit, & he says that's b/c that way he can be made known better, it's not from us, it's his doing. He picked it to bring foolishness to the wise

On the First Sunday of Advent this year, our Priest mentioned a two fold advent. One the obvious, preparing for the CHristmas season. But another that is often overlooked, and more important: Preparing for the Return of Christ. Advent gives us a time to prepare and contemplate if we are really truly ready for when Christ comes.

Yes, Christmas IS my favorite Holiday Advent is my favorite Season. Christmas Eve Mass (or Eucharist) IS Christmas for me. That service IS the highlight of Christmas to me. And the lessons I learn, I try to live and demonstrate all through the year.
