Birds are able to change their culture to become more efficient, according to new research from Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior.

In animals, “culture” is considered to be any behavior that is learned from others, shared by members of the group, and persistent over generations. Cultural traditions are known to exist in many animal groups, including primates, dolphins and whales, rodents, and birds.

Great [bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse][bless and do not curse] provide a classic example of animal culture. In the 1920s, birds in a town in Great Britain were observed to open the foil tops of milk bottles to steal cream. This behavior spread over 20 years, until birds throughout the country were doing the same.

There was no cursing in this post. FYI. Link will show.
A certain kind of bird whose name ends in mouse probably triggered the obscenity police.

IMO even if one was actually using the word in question to refer to a body part it would still not be a curse but simply a vulgarity. Doesn't a curse have to be aimed at someone and not just a mention of something?

Yes I've been fascinated by the notion of Animal culture. Their are cultural differences in Killer Whale pods where different groups go out of their way to migrate and hunt different food seemingly based on some kind of learned/developed food preference. You got similar things in dolphins with their language of clicks, whistles etc. that is suppose to have differences based on the social group.

There is something similar with birds, especially the intelligent species like crows and ravens. If you do anything positive or negative to them, and you have a distinctive feature, piece of clothing, house, car etc. they can pass on that information to their flock and offspring. So ones that you have never met will be hostile or friendly to you based on what your prior relationship was with them. e.g. a person saves some baby ravens in a nest that has fallen and nurses them back until they can fly and join their flock. Then the ravens of that area might remember that for the next twenty something years and be friendly with you giving you little gifts, not running from you, maybe landing near you or on you if you try to feed them etc.

Adore? Really? :crossrc:

In the Colloquial sense and not the liturgical sense, and who can resist being beguiled by some charming cheeky corvids, like this lady and her bird.
