Hi everyone!
I started a blog here today on the topic of raising and releasing Monarchs. Last year I released 4 Monarch butterflies and this year I am hoping to get even more involved, if possible. Right now I currently have one Monarch caterpillar that is in its 4th instar. I found him/her on June 28th when he/she was in the 1st instar and I believe that was the day the caterpillar had hatched out of the egg.
Anyway, I'm just wondering if there is anyone else here who has raised and released Monarchs or is interested in doing so. Apparently it is a project more people have gotten involved with over the years. If anyone is interested, here is a website that could be very helpful:
Monarch Watch
They have all kinds of information on how to help the Monarch at all stages of its life. I do believe the website is geared primarily for those who live in the U.S., but it still contains valuable information.
Here are a few other websites:
Monarch Butterfly USA
Monarch Butterfly Garden
U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service - Save the Monarch Butterfly
If you have done this or are interested in doing so, please feel free to share your stories and even photos.
