The Democrat south is where slavery occurred and where Jim Crow occured.

And to say blacks never had issues anywhere else would certainly be wrong. And to say that blacks do not have have never suffered any issues is also wrong. However, the obstacles that have prevented them from becoming successful have been removed. This country is not a racist country. We by and large believe and want all people to become all they can be here. We are not a racist nation.

Actually there was a lot of racism in the norh and post Civil War. For instance, 1.2 million black soldiers were denied the GI bill afer WWII. They didn't get that help buying a house after the war. They also had their houses that they did own marked lower than they were worth because of who owned the house. It wasn't just in the south. Even up to in the late 50s and early 60s, various Vegas casinos denied access to the main restaurants to blacks including those who were entertainers. Sammy Davis Jr. mentioned in an interview that Jerry Lewis wanted him join him for dinner when they were both working the MGM Grand, and were told that Davis could not eat in the same restaurant. Lewis contacted the boss of MGM and that changed that night. There was a great deal of racism that you might not have noticed.

However the WOKE movement says we whites are inherently racist and must be punished for being so. And one of the biggest ways to do that is to have policies or laws that discriminate against white people. And in some places they want things to be taken away from white people and given to black people.

Everyone has prejudices and biases. "Woke" was first used to signal increased awareness of racial issues back in the 1940s. It has changed in recent years but the idea that we should be more aware of others and racial issues is not twisted.

You frame it so sensibly, as if that's all that was being asked of us.

Another piece of the WOKE movement. You are racist to the core cause your white. And if you disagree then that proves you are racist. Moreover if you disagree that you should pay for your racism you suffer from white fragility.

You are proving my points with clarity.thatcthe movement is twisted and sick.

Like I said, to say they didn't have any issues is wrong. They did. And you are bringing up stuff from 50s and 60s. We ALL know they suffered in various ways and in various places. The democratic south was the worst.

To be sensitive to what people have experienced is NOT SICK OR TWISTED. Not in the least.

Please hear me on that because I don't want to be misunderstood or misinterpreted or have a flat falsehood heaped on me.

What IS sick and twisted is the current WOKE movement that says all white people are racist in their hearts and they need to stop being so white. That they deserve to be punished in some fashion. Just cause they are white. You are guilty just cause you are white. And if you disagree that proves how racist you are. THATS WHAT IS TWISTED.

And I sincerely believe that black people still experience some racism at times. I also believe that white people have experienced the same from black people. I don't think I could get away with saying all black people are racist to their core. I DONT believe that. Anymore than I believe white people are.

And you sincerely believe that.

Yes I do. Are blacks allowed to attend school? Get a college education? Pursue any career they want? Are they allowed to live wherever they want? Are they allowed to shop, eat, vacation any where they want? Can they go to any hospital any doctor? Can they become politicians, doctors, lawyers, police officers?

"We allow you people to get a college education and become politicians. What more could you possibly want?"

For one thing, they could want to feel safe walking down the street of a white suburb in a hoodie and not be harassed by a cop. They can feel safe that if they're caught, say, selling cigarettes, a cop won't stick his knee in their neck for eight minutes. Public schools that are predominantly minority can enjoy the same funding and opportunities as an all-white or mostly-white school. Etc. etc.

This is something people who whine so much about """woke""" don't seem to get: racism is systemic. It's not just disallowing people to get an education or to be a politician; it's keeping them down economically through planned neglect, and setting up an unequal justice system that judges minorities more harshly than it does white people.

I say this as a white person myself: a lily white person whining because someone allegedly thinks you're "racist to the core" is like someone sitting with an entire package of cookies and complaining because their black friend has a single cookie.

I think Lenin actually coined the term "awakened to the communist mindset".

Which was his idea of activists rallying around the rhetoric but not fully understanding the core ideals.

A step between the useful idiots and true communists.

If that's what systemic racism is....where's the proof? Cops shoot more unarmed white people than black. There's no racial consistency to the race of the cops either.

Where is the economically planned neglect? Aid, grants, and help abounds if you aren't white.

What is the unequal justice system? It's literally against the law to discriminate on the basis of race.

These are big accusations and claims that shouldn't be taken seriously without any evidence. In fact, they should be dismissed outright.

Threatening people with the label of racist doesn't make you correct.

It's interesting to me that guys like you just can't help but misrepresent what people say. I'd like to know where I said "we allow you people to get a college education". You even used quotation marks.

I believe that would be called lying. And Liars shouldn't be considered as having a credible opinion.

And all this planned neglect let me ask just who is governing those places? Sounds to me the Democrats are the ones who need to answer for it. Not the rest of us white folks.

Who's complaining about cookies?

"But but but the Democrats!"

Why do so many people seem to think that rights are a limited commodity that, if there is greater equality for group A, there will be less of it for group B? I've never understood that; perhaps you can enlighten me.

Though it might be subtle, there can be different attitudes within the same "movement" (broadly speaking), but the intent can be totally opposite.

For instance, there is an organisation without many ethnic minority people within it.

Attitude A says; "There is not many ethnic minorities within this organisation, it would be good if there was more ethnic minorities within this organisation"

Then there is Attitude B; "There is far too many white people within this organisation, it would be far more inclusive if their was a lot less less 'whiteness' here"

Attitude A is totally okay, positive and wants chances for everybody, Attitude B is negative, wants to foster ill intent for a superficial group they've made into their bogeyman.

Sadly attitude A is losing ground to Attitude B.

As for actual racists, they don't care, they won't stop being racist, in fact Attitude B reinforces their racial fantasies.

The woke culture is proving itself to be sick and twisted. It's racist and demeaning. Being white is considered to inherently racist and whatever a white person says or does must be looked at through that lense.
Wow.

Good thing that those types of things never happen from the other side, isn't it?

Being black is considered to inherently be lazy and stupid and whatever a black person says or does must be looked at through that lens and be treated as such.

Being Native American is considered to inherently be backwards and drunk and whatever a Native American person says or does must be looked at through that lens and be treated as such.

Being asian is considered to inherently be inscrutable and untrustworthy and whatever an asian person says or does must be looked at through that lens and be treated as such.

Being hispanic is considered to inherently be unskilled and illegal (and probably a rapist and/or murderer) and whatever a Hispanic person says or does must be looked at through that lens and be treated as such.

Decades and decades worth of such things NOT happening.

[/s]

And here we have trump and his minions trying to get us back to that. "Make America Great Again"

Yeah, right. When it was still okay to do all those types of things. Hint: those things are STILL happening to blacks and Native Americans and asians and hispanics on a daily basis.

Sick and twisted? Obviously, it's only bad when it happens to white people.

It appears you really have no idea what conservatives think about minorities. We see minorities in America as Americans. Fully capable of pursuing their dreams, and being successful. They don't need to be patronized or saved by the great white hope. They are smart, capable and can become whatever they want to become. They don't need white people to come swooping in to their rescue. Minorities can become doctors, lawyers, plumbers, electricians, engineers, scientists managers, welders, teachers or whatever. We don't see them as victims desparately needing our help in order to succeed. All any if them need to do is pursue the opportunities in front of them. Like any American of any color. If they don't it's a choice.

What ANY person does or becomes in America is based upon choices, skills and abilities. It is not based upon skin color.

Who said rights are a limited commodity. The rights afforded to us by our creator and outlined in the constitution are for everyone. It seems to me that the left is the group trying to add special rights to some and remove rights from others.
