Since I know exactly what everybody is talking about from top to bottom, guess I’m a Geek too. Suddenly have a craving to start reading my old Drizzt books again. Don’t know if I will survive playing the BG-1,2 games again though, they are a bit antique. Demon Stone was awesome but I do not think I ever finished it though. Oblivion I will definitely play again.

A Drizzt movie is an awesome idea but I shiver when I think how much can go wrong…

Me too!
Hollywood tends to ruin my favorite charaters.
Case in point: Deadpool from Wolverine: Origins

Ug. Barakapool.

Ya know, I thought Ryan Renolds was a good choice to play him, but they shoud have written the character better.

Ryan Reynolds is a great actor for Deadpool! (See: Reynodls as Hannibal King in Blade:Trinity) But they were so unfaithful to the comic version of Deadpool, after the 'pooling' bit that is, it's not even close to the character I like. He became the Merc-with-a-mouth-that-got-sewn-shut-and-has-laser-eyes-with-bamf-powers-and-katanas-shoved-in-his-wrists.

I own Blade Trinity and have seen it many, many...many times, lol :D When I heard that Ryan Renolds was going to play him, I was so excited!..... then oh so disappointed when I saw it. Yeah, they totally screwed him up and I've only read a few of his comics.

I highly suggest reading more than a few! :p
They are starting to print collected editions of some of his new and old stuff, that would be a good (cheapish) way to 'catch up' with out rummaging through bargain bins for back issues.

Also, on a happy note, reynolds is a huge of deadpool and is collaborating with the writers to try and keep it true to the books.

They should not have called that character in the Wolverine movie Deadpool, should rather have stayed some sort of generic super mutant. Still a true to form Deadpool character breaking the 4th wall by talking to the cinema audience directly and making some joke about the CGI graphics used in the movie would have been whacky…

I use to love comic books when I was younger but they are so outlandishly expensive… outlandish, like out there from the land were most of you are, LOL.

Think there was an illustrated version of the Drizzt Origins series… Did anybody saw those and are they worth it?

I have the first one "Homeland" but because of a severe lack of funds I haven't bought any of the others. If they are all like the first one then yes, they are completely worth it.
The art is amazing and the story is still shown with remarkable accuracy, however I would still say that reading the full book first is a requirement. You just don't get as much from the graphic novels.

I saw on IMDB that they're making a Deadpool movie with him as Deadpool, so not all my hope is gone! (Although, I do think it's odd that Reynolds is not only going to be Deadpool, but also the Green Lantern. Yeah, I know different universe, but it still seems odd being two comic book characters.)

And I want to read more issues! I need to get with my friend who got me into comic books in the first place. He probably has some, lol.

Hmmm. I think we need to make a Deadpool thread :D

Halle Berry was Storm (Marvel) and, ug, Catwoman (DC).

Well... Catwoman doesn't count... that was just a terrible movie... Ok, you got me, I never thought of that. Catwoman was such a travesty that I repressed the memory of seeing in theaters. Thank you so much for bringing it back to the surface :p^_^

But I just read that Chris Evans, The Human Torch from the Fantastic Four movies, is going to be Captain America in The Avengers movie as well as a Captain America movie. Same actor being two superheros in the same comic universe?! Tsk tsk. Not to mention I just don't think he'll be a good Captain America. Ok actor, just I don't think "Captain America" when I look at him... just like I didn't think "Catwoman" when I looked at Halle Berry ;) But I may be surprised.

Throw me in the geek pile. I've read the first 10 Drizzt books at least twice each.

Fun trivia I just have to mention: Wulfgar was supposed to be the main character. The first three books were the Icewind Dale trilogy. When everyone liked Drizzt more, the Dark Elf Trilogy was written. It was very well sewn together I think.

While I think that a great movie could be made, I really think they would just screw it up, so I hope they never make it.

There was another game where you could play Drizzt for a while. Menzoberranzan (sp?) was made for PC. When you would summon Guenhwyvar you could strike with the panther's paws. Bad graphics though. Released back in Windows 95 days.

It's a drizzit! It's a drizzit!

Welcome to the club!

I actually did know that trivia. I'm glad that Salvatore recognized what a great character he created with Drizzt! I started with the Dark Elf Trilogy and he did do a really great job making the two mesh. I wouldn't have realized that Icewind Dale was written first.

I do like the story he gives wuflgar in paths of darkness, recovering, and able to fall in love again, while adopting Colson.

Anyone else a Jaraxle fan? I know I am. :D

Speaking of Salvatore in general anyone else like the cleric quintent? I think Cadderly Bonaduce is awesome.

I liked Jaraxle more than Artemis as a recurring foe beacuse he was more interesting than the 'hrumph, I'm angry cause Drizzt is better than me'. But when it comes to DnD and other similar type games/scenarios I always have a penchant for rogues.

True, the story wasn't as much 'on the edge of your seat action' but I really liked the character Cadderly.
