"Noah preached repentance, and as many as listened to him were saved."

That's it. That is the post.

Discuss.
Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being divinely warned of things not yet seen, moved with godly fear, prepared an ark for the saving of his household, by which he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness which is according to faith.
37 But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. I don't know any scripture that says people repented from
preaching by Noah. On the contrary:
Matthew 24:
38
For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
39 and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

I take Clement's words as pretty reliable. Oral tradition during the first century was a big deal due to the Jewish roots of Christianity.

How would he know about the time of Noah, if this is not
in the scriptures, did he cite an outside source. It just
sounds like speculating to me, and that is never reliable.

When you consider that during the ages in which Jewish writings were destroyed by the church due to the Jews being evil supposedly, it is not hard to imagine that such writing existed at some point.

Peter 3:18-20

New International Version

18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death in the body but made alive in the Spirit. 19 After being made alive,a]">[a] he went and made proclamation to the imprisoned spirits— 20 to those who were disobedient long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah while the ark was being built. In it only a few people, eight in all, were saved through water,

Also, the Noah' message was kind of extraordinary. Difficult to believe, without some extraordinary evidence.

Today we believe that Christ is coming back to earth and he will transform the entire universe in an instant. We too believe something we cannot prove.

I am a preterist, so my beliefs regarding eschatology are a bit different.

But we can use the resurrection of Christ as an example. Without Him personally showing to His disciples several times, it would be difficult to believe it.

It's in his Epistle to the Corinthians - that is what it is titled in my resources. Don't know if that is 1 Clement or not.

Yeah that would be 1 Clement, it is the only writing attributed to him considered to be authentic, which is why I asked.

how do you know that? are you a historian, or you've studied in depth about his writing?
