Hopefully the title of this thread will help it to achieve its desired result.

Please answer the following question. Fill in the blank ....

I am a ___ point calvinist.

I'll answer it first....

I am a 0 point calvinist.

I'm just trying to gauge the pentetration of reformed Baptists. If you don't understand the question just don't answer. If you want an explanation you can PM me.

THIS IS NOT A DEBATE THREAD. THIS THREAD IS FOR BAPTIST/ANABAPTIST POSTERS.

Thanks :)

a Baptist that doesn't believe in Eternal Secuirity?
please just answer the question :p

Calvinism does not espouse eternal security... it includes the perserverence of the saints.... but please I don't intend this thread to become about the five points... just what you are

You believe we can lose our salvation?
Unfortunately, I have very limited knowledge about about the five points...in fact, the only thing I know about it is what i've read on a previous CF post. In that post, it made it sound as the the fifth point (eternal security) was only for those that were predestined to be saved. If I believed that God only wanted some of the people to be saved, then I would agree with point 5...in fact, I'd probably agree with some of the others as well. However, I don't believe that is the case. I believe that everyone has free will and that with the intervention of the Holy Spirit, anyone can be saved. Of couse, once that person is saved, they would have eternal security.

If I'm wrong about my summation of point five, then please feel free to let me know.

Thanks,
John

Here are the five points just in case anyone doesn't know, and a listing of the definitions afterwards from a Spurgeon site.

1. Total depravity (Original Sin)
2. Unconditional election (God's Election)
3. Limited atonement (Particular Redemption)
4. Irresistible grace (Effectual Calling)
5. Perseverance of the Saints

http://www.spurgeon.org/~phil/dabney/5points.htm

I would say personally I am a one point. Point 1 that is.

"Man, by his fall into a state of sin, hath wholly lost all ability of will to any spiritual good accompanying salvation; so as a natural man being altogether averse from that good, and dead in sin, is not able, by his own strength, to convert himself, or to prepare himself thereunto."
