"Likewise, we reject and condemn the error of the Enthusiasts who imagine that God draws men to Himself, enlightens them, justifies them and saves them without means, without the hearing of God's Word and without the use of the Sacraments." Formula of Concord, Epitome, Article II."

Wouldn't such a belief be incompatible with Karl Rahner's concept of the Anonymous Christian?

Couldn't it also, in some sense, make evangelism problematic? It implies unless somebody is baptized or hears the Gospel in a church, they are not experiencing God's grace, and God is not drawing them either. This goes against common Christian experience. There are other strong statements in the Lutheran confessions against spiritual experiences.

Yes, the Lutheran confessions do militate against turning any of our denominations into Pentecostal of "Holy Roller" bodies.
However, Lutherans did participate actively in the heyday of LARC, the Lutheran-Anglican-Roman Catholic charismatic movement. I was actively in it (as then a Roman Catholic)
