i received a bottle of holy water when I went to church today for Theophany.
I was wondering what to do with it.
I am looking to join the Orthodox Church but I am currently not part of it.
Any suggestions?
Thank you

I did not know that part, thank you. I was wondering how to make it last a whole year.

yep, St John Maximovitch actually says to have some daily when you first get up unless you are going to Communion.

drink it, anoint yourself with it, when it gets low, add water and it all becomes holy.

I've heard this, but I was told by an abbot that it wasn't true (it had to be re blessed). Source?

A question: need it be distilled water? Won't tap water get yucky?

I brought home a bottle of 'Jordan' water last year and it lived safely in my fridge until I finally finished it before going to Liturgy this morning.

I take it on days when we can't have Liturgy because Father is away at Clergy meetings

So, I put the bottle of holy water I got yesterday in my icon corner...should I store it in the fridge instead?

I really don't know - and that's being honest.

My priest knows where my bottle lives - as he says ,when I open the fridge to get my OJ in the morning that bottle comes out first.

I've heard people complaining that their water goes 'off' and becomes discoloured - mine didn't. I was also told that if necessary I could add water to it if the supply was running 'low' but as I only take it [ and a little antidoron ] when he's away for more than a couple of nights and we can't have Liturgy [ normally 4 days/week ] it does last well.

dunno the source, but it's what I have heard and was taught in Seminary. sorta like if you add wine to the Chalice after the consecration, it becomes the Blood.

Well I'd say seminary outranks monastics. Much as I love most of the monks I've met, many of their knowledge is more from experience then book knowledge. After all most hieromonks never even go to seminary.
