In order to qualify we need to look at Character:
· My intention is to stir your heart for the ministry.
· God has called us all to the ministry.
· But not all of us are Apostles, prophets, evangelist, pastors and teachers.

The bible says these offices are for
· The equipping of the saints for the work of the ministry.

You can read the building blocks for success:
· In 2nd Peter 1:1-12:
· (write these building blocks down go over them continually)

Understanding these building blocks, will instill in your heart desire:
· To fulfill your course and finish your race.
· Realizing it’s not just what’s in it for you, but all the people God has called you unto.

If you don’t finish your course:
· That will naturally affect many other lives.
· So it’s not all about us.
· It’s about all the people God has called us unto.

You need to establish the fact that in order:
· To Fulfill your course,
· To finish your race,
· To develop these 9 ingredients listed in 2nd Peter
· And also the qualifications out of 2nd Tim. 2:20-21.
You are going to have to incorporate spiritual disciplines!

lets are going to start with:
· Disciplines; the identification and there purpose.

Remember this:
· Joy is the center of all the disciplines.
Because in exercising these disciplines we find freedom.
· And where there is freedom there is Joy.

In order to reach our full potential as men and women of God:
· Most of us are going to have to undergo a lot of change.

And the changing process is Gods Work and not ours alone!

It’s not will power that changes us:
· It’s Gods Grace,
· Gods Word,
· And Gods Spirit.

Philippians 2:13 Says:
for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure.

The Weymouth’s Translation says:
It is God Himself, whose power creates within you the desire to do His gracious will, and also brings about the accomplishment of it.

That’s why we can say the changing process is not my responsibility alone:
· It’s God working in me.

The Bible lets us know:
· He gives you the very desire you have, to want to accomplish His will.
· He put it in you.

He will not only give you that desire:
· But He will bring it to pass and accomplish it.
o If we will cooperate.

Gods Grace, His Word, and His Spirit:
· Are the changing agents.

An example would be:
Let’s say you have a child playing in the mud,
· When the child gets home,
· You turn on the shower,
· The water comes out,

But the child will not become clean until:
·They position them selves under the water for a while.

The agent called water:
· Will bring forth the desired transformation.

The only way he can go from dirty to clean is to position himself under the water:
· The water is the agent of change.

Gods Grace, His Word and His Spiri-- WILL DO THEIR WORK IF:
· We will position ourselves under their influence consistently.

Our part in the change is to position ourselves.
· And allow the agents to do the Work.

We need to remain in a fixed position long enough:
· For the transformation to take place.

The reason we don’t see a lot of Christians transformed is:
· We dabble in the Presence.
· We dabble in the Word,
· Rather than staying there day by day, moment by moment—DISCIPLINING OURSELVES TO DO THAT.

2 Cor 3:18 says:
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
(NKJ)

The Disciplines put us in a position,
And hold us there consistently and long enough:
· For the Word and the Spirit to do their work.

A Doctor cannot operate on someone –without putting them under some type of sedation:
· Because they will squirm, they’ll move.
· So they need to be confined to a fixed position.

We need to be in that fixed position, long enough:
· For God’s changing agents to have success.

A farmer can’t grow corn:
· All he can do is provide the right conditions for that corn to grow.
o He has to prepare the soil,
o Plant the seed,
o Water it,
But he can’t make it grow:
· The earth brings forth that fruit.

We can’t make the change happen:
· We put ourselves in a position for that change to happen.
· And it happens automatically.

YOU CAN”T STAY IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD

· And remain the same.
· It’s impossible.

The disciplines don’t need to be law and letter:
· They need to be a desire.
· The desire to change.

If we practice these disciplines continually:
· We will remain in a position of continual change.
· From one degree of glory to the next.

Jesus called remaining in Position—Abiding in John 15

Abiding would be:
· Studying Gods Word.
· Praying in understanding
· Praying in the Spirit.
· Fasting.
· Worshiping God.
· Praising God.
· Meditating,
All of these are the means by which we abide.

John 15:1

1 I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman.

· The vine means—the source, the origin, of all that you are or ever will become.
· It’s the means by which this life flows.

He said no man could come to the Father unless he comes through Him (Jesus).
· Jesus is where it all starts and Jesus is where it all finishes.

Jesus is saying:
· I am the vine, I am the origin, I am the source, of all you are or all you will ever be.

“And my Father is the husbandman.”
· Husbandman means—gardener, or cultivator.

A gardener is the one responsible for the:
· Full development and refinement of the plant.
That is the father’s job.

Jesus is the one that makes that possible:
· Because we can’t come to the Father apart from the vine.

He said I am your origin and I am your source, I am where it all begins:
· And my Father is the one responsible of bringing you to a place of full development in your Christian life.
· He is the husbandman.

Vs. 2 Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it (or prunes it), that it may bring forth more fruit.

· To prune—means to cut away dead or unwanted parts.

That’s what a gardener does:
· He’ll go through his plants, and cut off all those parts that are hindering the full fruition of the plant, so the nutrients can get to the most essential parts.

That’s what God does:
· He cuts away what it says in Hebrews:
o The weights, the sins that so easily be set us.
· So we can come to our full fruition.

We just need to stay still long enough:
· For Him to do that.
· Not squirm around the table so much.

The standard that Jesus established,..

John 14:12 ¶ (ASV) Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto the Father.

The standard that Paul established,..

Phil 3:10 (ASV) that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death;
