From the trove of White House emails released on June 15, 2021, Historian Heather Cox Richardson writes:

On December 14, 2020, which was the day electors in each state certified the votes of the Electoral College, then-president Trump’s assistant wrote an email to then–Deputy Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen talking about alleged voter fraud in Michigan. The email was titled “From POTUS”—that is, from the President of the United States—and it included a long list of talking points to offer about why the votes should not be certified. That email had a number of documents that allegedly proved voter fraud.

Minutes after that email went out, another Justice Department official, Richard Donoghue, sent the same documents to the U.S. Attorneys for the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan. Forty minutes later, then-president Trump tweeted that Attorney General William Barr would be stepping down and would be replaced by Rosen. Donoghue would become Rosen’s deputy.

On December 29, then-president Trump’s assistant emailed Rosen, Donoghue, and Acting Solicitor General Jeffrey Wall with a draft of a legal brief to file in the Supreme Court. It demanded that the court declare that the Electoral College votes of six states—ones that Trump lost—“cannot be counted” and asked the court to order a redo of the election in those states.

From then on, Trump and his aides, including White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, repeatedly pressured officials at the Department of Justice to overturn the election results. Meadows forwarded information suggesting, among other things, that Italians changed U.S. votes through satellite technology and that Trump clearly won the election. Their complaints were so far-fetched that Rosen and Donoghue referred to them as “Pure insanity.”

....let's see if Rosen and others appear for the interviews:

:On at least five occasions, White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows directed DOJ officials to investigate baseless fraud claims, including a conspiracy alleging that electoral data was changed in Italian facilities with the knowledge of the CIA.

  • Rosen forwarded one of Meadows' emails linking to a YouTube video about the Italy conspiracy to Donoghue, who responded: "Pure insanity."
  • Rosen told Donoghue that he refused a request to have the FBI meet with a Rudy Giuliani associate who was promoting the conspiracy theory.
  • Later that day, Meadows sent another email to Rosen about alleged irregularities in Fulton County, Georgia. Rosen again forwarded the email to Donoghue and wrote: “Can you believe this? I am not going to respond to the message below.”
The House Oversight Committee has requested that Meadows, Donoghue, Clark, Pak and former Associate Deputy Attorney General Patrick Hovakimian appear for transcribed interviews. The committee previously requested Rosen's testimony on May 21."

‘Italygate’ election conspiracy theory was pushed by two firms led by woman who also falsely claimed $30 million mansion was hers

The letter [referenced as the emails above], which was among records released by Congress this past week, was printed under the letterhead of USAerospace Partners, a little-known Virginia aviation company. In early January, a second Virginia firm, the Institute for Good Governance, and a partner organization released a statement from an Italian attorney who claimed that a hacker had admitted involvement in the supposed conspiracy.

Though her name was not mentioned in either document, both Virginia organizations are led by Michele Roosevelt Edwards, according to state corporate filings reviewed by The Washington Post.

On the day after the 2020 election, Edwards sat for an interview at [$30 million mansion] North Wales with a television crew from Iceland, where she has business interests.

The Post showed [the actual owner] the footage of Edwards inside the property [which was for sale].

“She’s in my house,” the widow said. “How is she in my house?”

The North Wales mansion was for sale at the time, and Edwards was a licensed Realtor in the area

She would fit right in with the Trumps....

Stop the world!!!

The President and his administration filed complaints along with what they considered evidence with the proper authorities and then followed up on it!

Horrors of horror. Maybe we can have him impeached overs it or at least deported somewhere!

honestly it is stuff like this where the left and their media makes Q Anon look viable.

"....what they considered evidence" is the disconcerting part...not to mention the POTUS attempting to use the DOJ to overturn the results...an action that any prior President would have considered unthinkable.

But your attempts to whitewash these events are noted.

cough cough cough. Asking the DOJ to investigate is NOT trying to do anything other than investigate.

how do I know? They were obviously independent enough to come up with their own conclusions. Even if they were not what the President wanted

To quote from the OP:

"...demanded that the court declare that the Electoral College votes of six states—ones that Trump lost—“cannot be counted” and asked the court to order a redo of the election in those states."

"Trump and his aides, including White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, repeatedly pressured officials at the Department of Justice to overturn the election results."

If you can't see how this is an authoritarian attempting to overthrow a democratically elected government, then you're dishonest. It's blatant. The only reason anyone would be okay with it is it's the dictator they want to be ruled by.

How would you react if a Democrat pressured the department of justice to throw out the results of the election in 6 states?
