    BE PREPARED FOR GOD'S JUDGEMENT

Pr 11:20,21 The LORD detests men of perverse heart but he delights in those whose ways are blameless. Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.

Likewise Paul writes, "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." 1Cor 6:9,10

Interesting to note that even in the New Testament where all are recognized as sinners, nonetheless it speaks of a categorical distinction between the righteous and the wicked - a distinction disclosed by one's characteristic behavior. In fact John writes, "Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. He who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous. He who does what is sinful is of the devil." 1John 3:7,8

Thanks for sharing. That is God's Word.

The obedience that comes from faith is not a works salvation; rather, that is the Gospel.

Romans 1:5 (NIV) 5 Through him we received grace and apostleship to call all the Gentiles to the obedience that comes from faith for his name’s sake.

Romans 16:25-26 (NIV) 25 Now to him who is able to establish you in accordance with my gospel, the message I proclaim about Jesus Christ, in keeping with the revelation of the mystery hidden for long ages past, 26 but now revealed and made known through the prophetic writings by the command of the eternal God, so that all the Gentiles might come to the obedience that comes from faith

Therefore a true Christian is a disciple of Lord Jesus.

Acts 11:26 (WEB) 26 The disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

To be a disciple of Lord Jesus is to follow Him, and to obey all things that He commands of us. That is the meaning of being a Christian.

    Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

    Christian = Disciple

That is the faith by which we abide in Lord Jesus, bearing much fruit.

    John 15:8-10 (WEB
8 “In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples. 9 Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain (abide) in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will remain (abide) in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love.

As we abide in Christ by faithful obedience, Lord Jesus continues to abide in us by His Spirit, giving us life.

John 8:12 (WEB) 12 Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. [Isaiah 60:1] He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

This is the only faith by which we pass from death to life:

John 5:24 (WEB) 24 “Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and doesn’t come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life.

John 10:27-28 (WEB) 27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

The ones who are given eternal life, and who will never perish, are only those who respond to the the Gospel by faith demonstrated by continuous hearing and continuous following Lord Jesus.

    Blessings

Your Thread does not talk about the Cross of Christ, the Blood of Jesus, or being born again.

Paul said this... "we are justified by Faith, without the works/deeds of the Law".

"works of the law"< is two-fold. Its to keep the law, which you dont, as there are over 600 of them, and you dont know what they are, so, no need to wikipedia that.... ok?

So, when you are talking about "righteousness" that God accepts, so that you can go to heaven, then there is NONE that you possess, that can be caused, created, or kept, by trying to be good, or by doing good, or keeping the law and commandments.

There is ONE WAY to God, and Jesus is The WAY. John 14:6.

Consider that before you post more teaching that does not even talk about Jesus as the Redeemer.

bcbsr,.. any Gospel that does not teach the blood of Jesus as the reason salvation exits is not a gospel that God will accept.

    Faith is not a work.

Works, as Paul taught, is when we attempt earn salvation by good works, obeying the Law.

Faith, which includes repentance, is a commitment to follow Lord Jesus into a sanctified life, which is the new life in Christ Jesus. Faith, therefore, is opposite of works.

Paul explains the difference between faith and works in the following:

Galatians 2:15-20 (WEB) 15 “We, being Jews by nature, and not Gentile sinners, 16 yet knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ, and not by the works of the law, because no flesh will be justified by the works of the law. 17 But if while we sought to be justified in Christ, we ourselves also were found sinners, is Christ a servant of sin? Certainly not! 18 For if I build up again those things which I destroyed, I prove myself a law-breaker. 19 For I, through the law, died to the law that I might live to God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ, and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. That life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

That is the difference between works and faith.
    • Works, as Paul teaches here, does not change our sinful nature, and so doing works accomplishes nothing to our salvation.
    • By faith, we have repented, and so are crucified with Christ. We are now living by faith in Lord Jesus unto a sanctified life of righteousness as slaves of Lord Jesus.
So we are not saved by works. The new life of salvation is only possible by faith - Lord Jesus living in us by His Spirit through faith.

This teaching of Paul is nothing new, since he teaches the same thing to all the Churches he wrote to.

    Romans 6:15-18 (WEB)
15 What then? Shall we sin because we are not under the law but under grace? By no means! 16 Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you have come to obey from your heart the pattern of teaching that has now claimed your allegiance. 18 You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.

Therefore, Christ’s perfection is ours by faith – living sanctified lives onto righteousness. That is the new life.

That new life is not guaranteed unless the Christian continues in the same faith that he had when receiving the Holy Spirit – a repentant and obedient faith, following Lord Jesus.

John 15:10 (WEB) 10 If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain (abide) in his love.

    Blessings to you, and Shalom.

Notice i left your last verse for you to read again?
The reason i did this is because you are teaching that "works" is trying to stay saved, and then you post a verse about keeping commandments, that is a work you do, as your denial of what you just said you are not to do.

    So, thats a bit confused.
What you need to be, is ither a legalist who believes you keep yourself saved by commandments and self effort (works) , or be a true believer, who gives Christ all the credit for saving you and keeping you saved.
    You can't be both.
    Choose only one.
    Choose wisely.

And, yes...Faith is not a work.
And its also a fact that faith does not save you.

Many are uselessly "holding unto their faith", believing that if they do this, they keep themselves saved.
So, FAITH in FAITH, has become their savior.
THat's not faith in Christ. Thats faith in FAITH.

    Faith is not the savior.
God is the Savior who saves through faith.
    Big difference.
    BIG difference.

The last verse is by Lord Jesus, so we cannot deny what he taught us. What do you think Lord Jesus meant by those words?

    John 15:8-10 (WEB)
8 “In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples. 9 Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love.

We do not do good works to remain saved; rather, if our faith in Lord Jesus is genuine, and if we continue in that faith, we are now living to listen to and follow Him (John 15:1-10).

If we do not continue in the faith, we are not abiding in Christ Jesus, neither will be continue to bear fruit, and so, by not remaining in Christ, a person who was in Christ is now cut off.

What is a true believer? How does Scripture define a true believer?

    Romans 6:1-23 (WEB)
...1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? 2 May it never be! We who died to sin, how could we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all we who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
...4 We were buried therefore with him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we also might walk in newness of life.
...5 For if we have become united with him in the likeness of his death, we will also be part of his resurrection; 6 knowing this, that our old man was crucified with him, that the body of sin might be done away with, so that we would no longer be in bondage to sin. 7 For he who has died has been freed from sin.
...8 But if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him; 9 knowing that Christ, being raised from the dead, dies no more. Death no longer has dominion over him! 10 For the death that he died, he died to sin one time; but the life that he lives, he lives to God. 11 Thus consider yourselves also to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
...12 Therefore don’t let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 13 Also, do not present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. 14 For sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under law, but under grace.
...15 What then? Shall we sin, because we are not under law, but under grace? May it never be! 16 Don’t you know that when you present yourselves as servants and obey someone, you are the servants of whomever you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness? 17 But thanks be to God, that, whereas you were bondservants of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were delivered. 18 Being made free from sin, you became bondservants of righteousness.
...19 I speak in human terms because of the weakness of your flesh, for as you presented your members as servants to uncleanness and to wickedness upon wickedness, even so now present your members as servants to righteousness for sanctification. 20 For when you were servants of sin, you were free from righteousness.
...21 What fruit then did you have at that time in the things of which you are now ashamed? For the end of those things is death. 22 But now, being made free from sin and having become servants of God, you have your fruit of sanctification and the result of eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

    John 3:16 (WEB)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Romans 1:16-17 (WEB) 16 For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, because it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first, and also for the Greek. 17 For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.” [Habakkuk 2:4]

Romans 5:1-2 (WEB) 1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God.

    1 Peter 1:9 Young's Literal Translation
9 receiving the end of your faith -- salvation of souls

    Hebrews 4:1 (WEB)
Let us fear therefore, lest perhaps anyone of you should seem to have come short of a promise of entering into His Rest.

    Hebrews 4:11 (WEB)
11 Let us therefore give diligence to enter into that Rest, lest anyone fall after the same example of disobedience.

    Hebrews 3:13-15 (WEB)
13 but exhort one another day by day, so long as it is called “today”, lest anyone of you be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin. 14 For we have become partakers of Christ, IF we hold the beginning of our confidence firm to the end, 15 while it is said,
Today if you will hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion.” [Psalm 95:7-8]

    Hebrews 10:35-38 (WEB)
35 Therefore do not throw away your boldness, which has a great reward. 36 For you need endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise

    1 Timothy 4:16 (WEB)
16 Pay attention to yourself and to your teaching. Continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Matthew 24:11-13 (WEB) Speaking to His followers
11 Many false prophets will arise and will lead many astray. 12 Because iniquity will be multiplied, the love of many will grow cold. 13 But he who endures to the end will be saved.

Luke 21:19 (WEB) 19 “By your endurance you will win your lives.

Romans 8:16 (WEB) 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are children of God; 17 and if children, then heirs: heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.

Galatians 6:9 (WEB) 9 Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we do not give up.

    1 Timothy 6:18-21 (WEB)
18 that they do good, that they be rich in good works, that they be ready to distribute, willing to share; 19 laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold of eternal life.

    James 1:12-16 (WEB)
12 Blessed is a person who endures temptation, for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life, which the Lord promised to those who love him.

    2 Peter 1:10-11 (WEB)
10 Therefore, brothers and sisters, be more diligent to make your calling and election sure. For if you do these things, you will never stumble. 11 For thus you will be richly supplied with the entrance into the eternal Kingdom of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

    Revelation 3:11-12 (WEB)
11 I am coming quickly! Hold firmly that which you have, so that no one takes your crown.

    Revelation 21:7 (WEB)
7 He who overcomes, I will give him these things. I will be his God, and he will be my son.

Notice the believer is responsible for His faith - from beginning to end - to be saved eternally.

The Power of God onto Salvation is through Faith.

Romans 1:16-17 (WEB) 16 For I am not ashamed of the Good News of Christ, because it is the power of God for salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first, and also for the Greek. 17 For in it is revealed God’s righteousness from faith to faith. As it is written, “But the righteous shall live by faith.” []Habakkuk 2:4]

God saves us by faith in His Son. That is the Gospel.

    John 3:16 (WEB)
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

Yes, we are to "Present our bodies as a living sacrifice", but not to be saved, or to stay saved, but only because we are saved, already".

    Salvation is a Gift.
You dont earn it, by DOING, as Jesus has already done it for you.
    "the GIFT of Salvation"
Thats the Cross and the Blood of Jesus.
    John 14:6

The GIFT is received by faith according to the Gospel.

What do you think the new life in Christ Jesus is?

    Romans 6:1-6
6 What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2 By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
5 For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his.

Notice, you will not take part in the resurrection of the Lord unless you have died to the old life, and now live a new life of righteounsess.

Faith, according to the Gospel, is to be crucified with Christ. You cannot be one with Christ if you have not died to the old life, and now live to follow Lord Jesus.

    Romans 6:20-22
20 When you were slaves to sin, you were free from the control of righteousness. 21 What benefit did you reap at that time from the things you are now ashamed of? Those things result in death! 22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life.

IF your faith does not lead you to live a holy life before God you will not receive eternal life.

    Salvation is "Grace Through FAITH".

We give God our Faith, and God gives us "The GIFT of Salvation", "The GIFT of Righteousness".
We are then "made Righteous", as we have BECOME = "the righteousness of GOD....in Christ".

All this is the "new life"., which is to have become born again AS "The New Creation"..."in Christ".

We are "made righteous" by faith, but how? You have to read the context of Scripture to find out.

    1 John 3:7
7 Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.

We are a New Creation only if we die to the old life, and live to follow Lord Jesus.

    2 Corinthians 5:15-17
15 And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again... 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

"Therefore" is the response (verse 17) to what took place in the preceding (Verse 15).

You are only made a new creation as you deny the old life, and now live for Lord Jesus.

Yes, God dwells in us by His Spirit through Faith to give us life, but only as we believe, drink, live, walk, drink, sow to the Spirit of God who indwells us.

As we “believe,” “drink,” “live,” “walk,” and “sow” to the Spirit (which is what a Christian is directed to do), then the Spirit will lead us into life. That is what the Scriptures actually teach.

The believer himself is commanded to “believe,” “drink,” “live,” “walk,” and “sow” to the Spirit

    John 7:37-39 (WEB)
37 Now on the last and greatest day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me and drink! (continuous) 38 He who believes (continuous) in me, as the Scripture has said, from within him will flow rivers of living water.”

As we “believe,” or “drink,” is when we have life in the Spirit according to John 7:37-39.

    John 4:13-14 (WEB)
13 Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks (continuous) of the water that I will give him will never thirst again; but the water that I will give him will become in him a well of water springing up to eternal life.”

The Spirit gives us eternal life inside as we drink of the Spirit - “whoever drinks” – continuous drinking, according to John 4:13-14.

Romans 8:12-13 (WEB) 12 So then, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. 13 For if you live after the flesh, you must die; but IF by the Spirit YOU put to death the deeds of the body, you will live.

The obligation is on the Christian, those who already believe, to put to death the deeds of the body by the Spirit so that he may live.

We have the light of life only as we follow (continuous) Lord Jesus - not the other way around:

John 8:12 (WEB) He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

Being weak in the flesh, we cannot live by obeying the Law, but if, by faith in Jesus, we walk in the Spirit, only then will the Law of God be fulfilled in us.

Romans 8:3-4 (WEB) 3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God did, sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh; 4 that the ordinance of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

The responsibility is always on the each person to repent, and then to believe, drink, walk, and sow to the Spirit to possess the new life.

You are not reading the context of Scripture. You are taking bits and pieces by themselves, and then assuming.

The blood of Christ only atones for sins as we walk in the light, which is to live righteous before God.

1 John 1:6-9 (WEB) 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and do not tell the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

The Cross and the Blood of Jesus is a "gift", that is given to the "world".
    John 3:16.
This has nothing to do with your behavior. It only has to do with God on the Cross redeeming and forgiving.

You are trying to save yourself.
If that were possible then Christ didnt have to come here to save YOU.

The Scriptures teach that God’s mercy and grace extend to all people because God desires all to be saved through the Gospel invitation.

Matthew 22:8-9 (WEB) 9 Go therefore to the intersections of the highways, and as many as you may find, invite to the wedding feast.’

    Isaiah 45:21-22 (WEB)
21 There is no other God besides me, a just God and a Savior. There is no one besides me.
22 “Look to me, and be saved, all the ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.

However God will not allow just anyone into His Kingdom, therefore, God chooses to graciously save, and cleanse from all unrighteousness, which we could never earn, to whosoever will believe in His Son demonstrated by hearing Lord Jesus and following Him.

1 John 1:6-7 (WEB) 6 If we say that we have fellowship with him and walk in the darkness, we lie, and do not tell the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

    John 8:12 (WEB)
12 Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. [Isaiah 60:1] He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

I know you will object to the words of Lord Jesus, but I believe in Lord Jesus and all He commands of true Christians.

Salvation is not ....Christ saved me if i promise to keep commandments and Law, and live holy.

So, you are teaching that the Grace of God is your works along with Christ's Blood.

    That's Legalism.

Just take Lord Jesus at His Word. Do not call what Lord Jesus taught as "legalism." Lord Jesus was teaching the True Faith that God accepts.

Jesus does not teach "works" and "keeping commandments" as salvation.
And He should know, as He Himself is Salvation.
    John 14:6

Why don't you know this, setst777?
Thats the question you need to resolve.

    Matthew 28:19-20 (NIV)
19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.

John 15:8-10 (WEB) 8 “In this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; and so you will be my disciples. 9 Even as the Father has loved me, I also have loved you. Remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and remain in his love.

Romans 8:12-13 (NIV) 12 Therefore, brothers and sisters, we have an obligation — but it is not to the flesh, to live according to it. 13 For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live.

I know you will object to the words of Lord Jesus, and His Apostles, but I believe in Lord Jesus and all He commands of true Christians.

Lets then teach what Jesus taught.
He taught this. "i am THE WAY to The FATHER, and no man comes to The Father but by Me".

So, that removes water baptism, commandment keeping, law keeping, taking communion, and self effort., according to what Jesus teaches, as THE WAY to go to THE Father.

Trying any other way, including those on the list is : legalism.

Since Lord Jesus is "The Way" then we are to follow Him be to saved.

    John 10:27-28
27 My sheep listen to my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. 28 I give eternal life to them. They will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.

John 8:12 (WEB) 12 Again, therefore, Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. [Isaiah 60:1] He who follows me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the light of life.”

    Who is the Liar?

    1 John 2:4-6 (WEB)
4 One who says, “I know him,” and doesn’t keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth isn’t in him.
5 But God’s love has most certainly been perfected in whoever keeps his word.
This is how we know that we are in him:
6 he who says he remains in him ought himself also to walk just like he walked.

    Matthew 10:38 (WEB) 38
He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me is not worthy of me.

    Luke 9:23-25 (WEB) 23
He said to all, If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever will lose his life for my sake, will save it. 25 For what does it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits his own self?

So you must count the cost of Faith in Lord Jesus - which is your life

    Luke 14:27-35

27 Whoever does not bear his own cross, and come after me, cannot be my disciple. 28 For which of you, desiring to build a tower, doesn’t first sit down and count the cost, to see if he has enough to complete it? .... 33 So therefore whoever of you who doesn’t renounce all that he has, he cannot be my disciple.

    Matthew 13:44-46 (WEB)

44 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a treasure hidden in the field, which a man found, and hid. In his joy, he goes and sells all that he has, and buys that field.
45 “Again, the Kingdom of Heaven is like a man who is a merchant seeking fine pearls, 46 who having found one pearl of great price, he went and sold all that he had, and bought it.
