Luther never rejected the authority of the Pope, just what he said. His main beef was the selling of indulgences that is why he emphasized sola scripture.

As far as I am aware Lutherans still have most of Roman doctrines and sola scripture means keeping the Sabbath and the Law.

In Luther's terms, sola scripture meant you can't buy your way into heaven with indulgences.
