The famine prophesied in the NT wasn't uplifting to the folks back then nor were Paul's prophetic words.

A warning! So they were ready to face the famine when it came.

God still warns his people today.

I know - just pointing out that there has to be more definitions to the words than what it looks like on the surface from I Corinthians 14:1-3 says that prophecy is for encouragement, edification, and comfort (some versions use the word "exhortation").

Someone commented the other day that the reason they didn't concern themselves about y2k was because it wasn't prophesied beforehand (Amos 3:7).[FONT=&quot]
