It's from China. It was the Chinese culture that infected the world with this. It was the Chinese government that tried to cover it up.

It was NOT Chinese Americans. They had nothing to do with this.

But I'm telling you, these morons who attack any Chinese American did not do it because someone happened to call it the Chinese virus. They would have attacked them anyway because they are idiots. I remember Muslims in America being attacked in the 70s because of what the Muslims over seas did. There are people out there who will do that. Instead of not picking this how about every news cast, newspaper and magazine tell the truth and then tell everyone that it had nothing to do with American Chinese people.

And I would certainly support the president doing the same. He should come out and tell people not to blame Americans, but blame China.

Thanks to the media making an issue out of it.

people too stupid to realize the difference between reality and feigned offense are easily swayed.
Thank the media for making an issue out of Asian people being mistreated because of trumps stupid vernacular?

Would you feel better to not know that trumps words aren't creating a xenophobic reaction?

oooo. Good stuff.

Pray, how specifically did the Chinese Culture infect Idris Alba with an Illness?

Many of Canada's initial cases originated in the us. I think Canadians should be calling it the American virus. With the never of stories about young people have coronavirus parties and hanging out over spring break, perhaps you also should call in the American virus.

agreed here. And it is the media and their feigned offense promoting such. they then find such things to promote their political partisanship.

Remember Jessis Smolett?

NYPD makes two hate crime arrests for attacks against Asian-Americans amid coronavirus pandemic

Note that both victims did not want to be identified. It was not about personal attention.

There are lots of ungodly people in the world today. It does not help to incite their dislike of 'the other.'
Stick with Covid -19 as a name. Or C-19.

To the media every action the president takes is either racist or xenophobic.

He bands travel from terrorist nation xenophobe

He closes the border from caravans illegally entering racist

He stops the travel from China because of the spread of the virus he xenophobic

He stops travel from Europe because of the virus and once again he is racist
Virtually everything he says everything he does every action he takes is either racist or xenophobic and the American public is waking up to this reality that they are being lied to and being lied to on a consistent basis from people who just flat hate the president

And that’s the truth

there are also thousands of ungodly people who accuse the president of all manner of ill because they don’t like him.

This is the United States of America and freedom of speech is still the law you wanna call it COVID-19 go for it someone else wants to collect the Wuhan flu they have the right to do that, someone to call at the Chinese flow they have the right to do that. The thought police need to mind their own business.

If you assault someone for any reason you should pay the price for assaulting them. You don’t have the right to assault someone but to assign the blame to someone for another person’s actions is ridiculous. The only reason it is getting press is because it fits the media’s agenda.

Social engineering through fear and name calling Has to stop. The fifth estate is losing their power over the people and they don’t like it so they increase the rhetoric but Americans are waking up to the deception

Trump: agent of chaos.

Its not so much the details of each particular divisive act or statement. Its the whole package designed for division and chaos.

Thats why Trump was so heavily promoted by Russia. Not because he's a literal Russian agent, of course. But because he was guaranteed to weaken the USA, and the West generally, from the inside out by turning the country against itself.

Servant of chaos.

Accurately label.....like Covid-19?
or SARS-CoV-2 which is the actual name of the virus?

There is no excuse for folks to be spitting on or yelling at Chinese Americans because the virus showed up in the Wohan province of China first. Absolutely none.

I agree. So why pretend Trump using the perfectly accurate term Chinese virus is the cause for this single incident of a deranged person acting deranged. And since when do we let the actual name of something stand in the way of labeling things and people according to our political agenda?

"name calling has to stop" - Like calling the virus the Chinese virus instead of its name - COVID-19.

Or people calling others names like:
List of nicknames used by Donald Trump - Wikipedia

That is quite a list of ugliness from the President's own mouth. I have no sympathy for the man as his decisions can be criticized (folks have that right) and he started the name-calling from the beginning of his campaign.

It isn't perfectly accurate. The virus has a name. COVID- 19 . Or more specifically:
severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2)

Chinese culture did not cause this disease. Last I checked, the consumption of wild meat is not unique to Chinese culture, thus the idea of somehow linking the virus to Chinese culture is just plain stupid. It would be more appropriate to link it to a practice or the animal where the virus jumped from. Pangolin virus makes more sense than Chinese virus; no wall of text will make sense to deliberately attach a country's name to it to somehow lay blame on a group of people. This was not done before, and it's not a sign of political correctness run amok... the reality is, you are attempting to twist and contort language to attack a group of people. The irony here is that the people that complain about political correctness often argue they are prevented from saying things in a casual manner; but here it is funny to see them argue against the casual use of the actual name of the virus in place of a specialized name designed to change people's attitudes and thinking. The very thing they complain about, they're deliberately trying to do by calling it the Chinese virus. You don't change a virus name to blame people and then feign victimhood when the ignorance and bigotry of that propaganda campaign is pointed out.

Another piece of ignorance, the virus does not cause the flu, so calling it any form of flu is inaccurate and wrong. I also have to chuckle when I see someone write "Chinese flow" because even in the attempt to blame people for a disease, there is an inability to even spell things correctly. In fact, it perfectly encapsulates the notion of ignorance regarding the disease and attacking a group of people by attaching their name to it.

Personally, I'm kind of over arguing about it. It's like people arguing that a certain movie or book should have a different title - at the end of the day, it's called COVID-19, that's what 99% of the world is going with, and it doesn't matter how much the 1% fuss about it.

It is a virus. It originated in the country of China. The term Chinese Virus is as accurate as Spanish Flu, German Measles, Buffalo Wings, Philly Cheese Steak, Canadian Goose etc etc. etc.. Again, since when do we insist upon the most accurate name instead of allowing a name that is either colloquial or, as is now much more prevalent, fits a political agenda? The attempt to silence speech one doesn't like or to take offense for the purpose of political theater is becoming way too transparent and hypocritical. For instance, I would say that it is absolutely ridiculous for anyone that would call a person with a male reproductive organ a woman to tell Trump he cannot call a virus from China the Chinese virus.

Spanish flu did not originate in Spain, German measles did not come from Germany.....:doh::doh:

Congrats on picking examples that directly contradict your point. German measles was named because german doctors identified it, Spanish flu emerged outside of Spain, possibly in france or Germany during ww1, or possibly Asia.

Not really. Those are part of the culture and identity of the place. They are about the people, essentially.

I do think its fair to talk about the Chinese "wet markets" tho. They need to get a grip on that practice.
