This is completely unsurprising to locals here. They have a rally scheduled here in Portland on Saturday.

What did you expect to happen when the police gets defunded? Perhaps, at least in this case, law enforcement is the solution and not the problem. Thank God that the police were able to ensure people can peacefully assemble and protest without fear of those evil pro-Trump activists causing harm.

What exactly do these chat logs have to do with police defunding? That’s such a strange conclusion. And the police here haven’t yet lost a penny...

These guys were chatting about events that had very heavy police presence. . In fact, they were violent right in front of the police. The cat was not away at all.
And like I said, the cuts have not yet gone into effect. So how could this be related to defunding?

Edit: Side note: Historically, the police have stood by and not intervened when the proud boys/patriot prayer were violent. They were actually caught communicating and coordinating with them. The proud boys think the cops are on their side.

Haven't we already seen the proud boys and Antifa collide? If I remember right the Antifa group won that fight. Did we really believe they would turn the other cheek?

The violence and rioting has predominantly been done by the leftists. The rightists dis respond in Portland and lost.
