I guess. He still has 30 days left, so we'll see how that works out.
tulc(wonders if anyone had him in the "next one out the door" White House pool?)

I admit that Trump has been extremely lax in removing poor performing bureaucrats . Since I never considered Trump to be that competent a manager, I am not a bit surprised by that. I would have cleaned house back n 2017 had I been foolish enough to want to take that undesirable government position.

Since Trump made his Ukraine call 2019 which led to his “cleaning the house” that would have been prophetic indeed.

Also these “I would” comments are pretty laughable considering the Federal government employs around two million people.

You really figure you have time to vet all the possible people if when the call comes up they might have loyalty to their office or country instead of their president ?

The reality is that the "best people" that this President promised would staff his Administration simply refuse to serve under a verbally-abusive, dictatorial narcissist where job security requires that they be continually auditioning for the approval of an audience of one!

The "best people" aren't gluttons for punishment as part of the revolving door of administrators and understaffed departments that have characterized the Trump Administration, they would much prefer that their resume not include that they had served in the Trump Administration!

You personally know these people so well that they have confided this information to you? The one thing that I would definitely take issue with in your post is the word "understaffed".

I said I never thought Trump was a good manager did I not? A well run operation in the private sector usually only needs 90 days to decide that one has proven oneself unfit for the position. I understand that due to the nature of the process politicians cannot be fired so easily or quickly. If they could be the turnover in the Congress and the White House would have been tremendous over the years. However, there is no excuse for Trump keeping an incompetent bureaucrat on for that long.

Exactly what made him an incompetent bureaucrat?

Don't ask me. I'm not the one that fired him and I'm not the one that was tasked with evaluating his performance. If I was then I could tell you but telling you that would be unethical. Obviously the person that was tasked with that considered him to be incompetent.

Then why did you make the statement? YOU said "However, there is no excuse for Trump keeping an incompetent bureaucrat on for that long." Trump didn't say that he was incompetent in his letter to Congress.

Of course not, that would be impolite and unethical. One does not openly discuss the reasons for someone's dismissal in public. That is confidential human resource material.

Trump said that he didn't have the fullest of confidence in Atkinson and not that he was incompetent but I'm glad that you admit that you were impolite and unethical in calling him that.

Trump was warned, last year, by two Republicans on the Intelligence Committee not to fire Atkinson, which he wanted gone because he wasn't loyal to him, according to New Weeks.

I may have been impolite but as I am not part of the government nor the man's supervisor calling him incompetent is not unethical. "I do not have the fullest confidence in him " is the polite, ethical, euphemistic way of saying "I find him to be incompetent.". However, If your speculation is correct that Trump fired Atkinson not because or at least not just because he was incompetent but because Trump believed that he was likely to backstab Trump, I think it was a wise move on Trump's part to remove him. Not even a poor manager is willing to keep an employee on that he believes will undermine him.

Who would be the incompetent one? The man who spent years studying US Code or the man who spent no years studying it?

Atkinson wasn't incompetent though, like many that Trump appointed to office and who were loyal to their job and who followed the law instead of Trump.

The incompetent one is always the one who does not competently do the job. No amount of studying something will make someone do their job competently if they are incompetent. Achieving positive results, not incessant studying, is what makes someone competent.

Then we are in agreement that Trump is the incompetent one.
    Agreed
Agreed and I'm glad that you see Trump as the incompetent one and Atkinson who had positive results for the American people, as being excellent at his position.
