Praying that someone gets sick? Witchcraft?

my mother and aunt go to a pentecostal church and they always say that they pray hard that someone would get sick or hurt. They are praying that against my husband and he has been throwing up and everything. Me and my husband live with them and they say I am not being a christian? My mom does not go to church unless it is Easter but my aunt does and she is the one that prays this nasty stuff. Does God actually listen to prayers like that? Isnt that witchcraft to pray bad things on people?

No God doesn't listen to that stupidity. Yes it's a form of witchcraft. No it won't affect God's children, unless God's children ignore His Word and become superstitious. If someone can make a person believe something stupid, that thing can affect that person.

You need to realize that not only is it witchcraft, but you have protection from it by the blood of Jesus - you are redeemed from the curse, and saved or not you can claim protection for your husband because you are one flesh. Simply pray and believe that no weapon formed against you can prosper and every tongue that rises against you will be shown to be in the wrong (Is. 54). God watches over His word to perform it, and you are a well-watered garden to Him - He waters you at every moment and watches over you night & day lest any harm come to you!
Pray for your aunt & mom that they would be turned from this wrong path and their eyes opened, that whatever is causing them to do this evil they would turn and repent and get right with God.

Had a weird experience that this thread reminds me of. I was driving from Portland, OR, to Eureka, CA, one time in the very early morning hours. Driving on that winding road high up in the mountains, surrounded by nothing but trees, my children slept in the back. I needed some company, so I did a search on the radio, and it stopped on a station. It was a call-in show, and the woman was a "Christain advisor."

A lady called in and complained about her husband, that he never went to church, he was mean, he did nothing around the house, and was, in general, a mean, onery guy. The host said that he was not doing what the Scriptures said, so she was going to pray a curse on him. She began to pray, and in her prayer, she said that the Bible said to curse such as he, and she began to cuss up a storm! Naturally, my radio went OFF!

This was such a surreal experience that it still seems incredible! Driving back through the area some time later, I let the radio do a search again, but I did not find any religious programming again.

Well, not all who call Him "L-rd, L-rd" are His. Obviously.

or maybe it's nothing spiritual at the moment and the husband is just getting sick like everyone else does. maybe it's just seems weird because of the circumstances. or maybe it is spiritual forces pounding on the husband. who knows? God is the only one that knows, and that will ever know. i would just say, tend to your husband's health, pray for him, and pray to God for these people to stop using their stupid tactics against you and your husband and leave the protection and everything up to God God Bless you! <><

my mother does it too, and get this, they are very mad at me and my hubby and BABY are moving out and they are cursing us left and right. I have been staying down here with my baby away from all that playing christian music and praying and having my pastor pray also. I went up the stairs to feed my baby some food and I fell with him!!! THank God Neither one of us were hurt, but get this..my mother started laughing in a voice that was not her own and said I deserved that,......Then she had the nerve to say that I am not a christian?? Thank you all for your prayers. I know God will save them and me and my family are getting away in the mean time.

God doesn't answer prayers like these. My pastor has had witches try to pray curses against him. One of the people cursing him confronted him and asked him why he isn't dead yet. My pastor is still living since he has the protection of God around him. It is possible that your husbands sickness isn't related at all to their prayers against him. Your aunt and mother are probably mad that you are leaving since they won't be able to control you anymore.

Things to think about:
Do you know if your aunt and mother are saved? I ask this because a lot of people call themselves christians but really don't know what real salvation is.
If they are saved, it seems as if they are so focused on pointing out your faults that they don't realize their own evil ways. Or they could excuse their behavior as being the lesser evil.
Are they asking God to curse you or are they calling out to Satan or some other demonic spirit?
Has your relationship with them always been this bad? Are did this problem start after you got married? after you moved in with them? after you became a christian? You don't have to tell me the answer but just think about them in your head.

There are several possible things going on here. Either your mom and aunt are unknowingly involving theselves in witchcraft, they could also actually be deeply involved in occultic practices, or they both could be suffering with some sort of personality disorder. There are some personaily disorders where people really don't think that they are doing wrong.

Continue to bless them though they curse you. And continue to pray that God resolves this situation.

Make sure that you don't let any worry and fear creep in because this can block faith. Just remain faithful and continue to keep trusting God to protect your family.

Thank you so much for this. They are mad because they do not want my son out of this house. They are really attached to him, but we have to have a place of our own.
They say that they are saved and even speak in tongues when they go to church once in a blue moon. But they curse and cuss everything.
There was this toy that they gave my son that sings when you move it or touch it. Last night when we were all in bed, the toy kept on laughing and going off. It did this about three times during the night and woke us up. Nothing was around it to make it move or go off.

Tell mom and auntie that you are taking a hike, and they are not welcome to come along.
Filth does not come out of the mouth of a child of the Most High, so their tongues is one born out of emotion, or worse.

I wouldn't put that in the category of "prayer" but in the category of "cursing" . I have been a part of a group that would "speak against" certain people or groups . I didn't follow suit ( always the odd one out ) because I knew something was wrong but couldn't put my finger on it until after leaving the group .

Why do they pray for people to get sick? If their evil prayers are being answered, it's not God.

Miracle - pray the Blood of Jesus over the whole house and most paticularly over yourself, your husband and your baby. This is witchcraft and cursing you are standing against. Use the most powerful tool you have in the Blood - sin cannot stand against it.

Jesus is in you, speak that out every day, every time anything gets said. When something is said, speak out that through Jesus's strength, you do not accept that into your life. Refuse to allow it to touch you. Cover your ears and your eyes and your thoughts, and keep then fixed on God. He will protect you.

Lord, protect this family from all that would come against it to shake their faith in You. Give them Your courage and strength, that they will strive successfull and be a faithful witness to You Grace and mercy. Protect and comfort them and lead them down the paths of righteousness in all their ways and all their days. Through Jesus we ask that this be done. Amen.

I'm agreeing with the other posters who say this is witchcraft. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Today I was at my best friend's house, and she got out a book to show me something she read recently, but then she forgot what it was. I remember the book, though, and maybe the Lord orchestrated the whole thing so I could point you to this book -- Breaking Christian Curses, by Dennis Cramer. I also wanted to make it clear that this is not a typical or accepted practice in pentecostal/charismatic churches. If you know what kind of accountability structure this church is under, you may consider reporting the problem. That is what is called a soulish prayer and to the person that said that it was a curse you are right that's just what it is. But God says Greater is Jesus who is in you than satan who is in the world. And No weapon formed against you shall prosper. You know what if you was to quote those two scriptures to them when they pull that stuff they will probely stop that foolishness.

Yes it is a form of witchcraft...

Witchcraft usually incorporates control and manipulation as well-- so when someone begins to break out from being controlled it frequently upsets the controller. Lots of manipulation to try to keep you under their control then kicks in, including accusations that you are not 'spiritual enough' or not 'christian enough' or that you just 'don't understand'. This is all part and parcel of the same thing.

Just keep yourself clothed with Christ-- through prayer, worship, etc. And do what you know is right for you and your family.
