Prayers needed

Hello.

Please pray for us. My little sister has been admitted to hospital this afternoon for a much needed sleep study. This will happen early tomorrow morning first thing. She is only five years old (she is going to be six in April).
She has been struggling to sleep at night. She has always had this issue at night since she was a little baby but lately it seems a lot more worse. My mom took her to the emergency room. They will carefully observe her overnight.
This is her third sleep study since birth. She has had two done before when she was a baby. But all the results were as expected so the sleep medicine team agreed not to do any more unless it was needed. She used to have a trach but they decannulated her a few years back since she was stable from a pulmonary perspective.
Please pray for her.

I talked to my mom earlier today. While my youngest sister is stable for now she could suddenly just take a turn for the worse. They are still monitoring her. She has been admitted as a pulmonary patient to the respiratory floor. The plan is to conduct some tests and then make a informed decision based on the results.
Pray that the operation goes well. I’ll update this thread if there are any further updates. Send us your prayers and good wishes as well.

Update 3

They will do her procedure this week if possible. She seems a bit worse and they are now really concerned for her lungs too. She almost failed her latest overnight sleep study even with mom attempting to reassure her periodically during the test. It was a long and difficult night for everyone. So my mom is now resting at home whilst dad is at the hospital. He came and she left her this morning to sleep.

Her sleep study results were not brilliant compared to her last sleep study results a few years ago. Please keep praying for her. I think that the operation will be done on Wednesday afternoon. She is now on a ventilator in the meantime.

The ventilator is configured with cpap settings. She is having her chest x rayed as a additional precaution to determine if there are any undetected lung issues but I doubt if they will find anything abnormal. It looks like she will be needing a trach after all to help her breathe properly.

Still awaiting the official report from the team but that is what my mom thinks already. While she has always had sleep apnea, it seems to be worser this week for some unknown reason. Not sure why. A nurse is also observing her carefully. She has been moved out of the intensive care unit to a room on the pulmonary floor. I will update if I hear any more.

Short update

She is in recovery now.

Longer version

The operation was pretty successful all things considered. I called early this morning to ask whether there was a update on the situation or not. I wished I could be there however I cannot fly until the baby is born.
My little sister now is back in her room on the pulmonary floor still pretty heavily sedated. The doctor placed a trach in the operating room when she was out cold. Afterwards the specialist brought her to the post operation recovery area.
So I will pray for her instead. I’m not sure how long her recovery will take.

In other news, my own pregnancy doctor saw me for a pre delivery check up today. All is good. Baby is expected to make her debut early next week on Monday morning.

Her speech will be affected definitely by her trach. Until now she had normal speech. But she did not cope with other less invasive treatments at all.
They want to keep her under observation. Also since she has regressed slightly, it will mean having to make a lot of difficult lifestyle changes. My mom and dad are fully prepared however. She had her surgery today as it was delayed.
This is a big adjustment for our family. Please keep us in your prayers. In order to leave the hospital, my parents have to attend a training class to learn how to care for her safely at home and then practice those skills too.
