Candlelight Prayer Vigil for Abducted Pastor
About 300 people gathered for a candlelight vigil for Pastor Raymond Koh on Sunday, March 5th, in four different locations around Malaysia. Muslims (some of them famous political leaders), Hindus, and Buddhists joined Christians in solidarity for the pastor and his family. Each came holding a candle and praying for 10 minutes according to their respective faiths for Pastor Raymond.

The presence of police initially threatened to disrupt the event. They had set up roadblocks to prevent participants from entering the meeting place. As a result, the organizers had to change the venue. In spite of this, people eventually managed to come together at a different place and the prayer event proceeded peacefully until the end.

“The atmosphere was noisy as people eagerly discussed who the kidnappers might be, since the abduction seemed to be professionally done in broad daylight,” shares a believer who attended the vigil. “But the moment Pastor Raymond’s wife, Susanna, came on stage to speak, everybody fell silent.” Susanna expressed thanks to everyone for their support, and begged her husband’s kidnappers to release him safely. The heartfelt speech moved some people to tears.

Please continue to uphold Pastor Raymond and his family during this trying period. Pray for other pastors in Malaysia. Pray that they are kept safe and remain vigilant as they share about Christ. Pray against the agenda of the kidnappers. Pray that as they attempt to take more people, that God would soften their hearts. Lastly, pray for Pastor Raymond’s family as they continue life without him.
