    Hello, everyone!

I have been blessed with work in the past, but my temporary assignment ended a few months ago, so I am looking for a new job now.

Please pray that I will find a position and that I will be able to reach people for God wherever I work.

    Thank you!

The Scripture says "Do not be anxious for anything, but through prayer and supplication make your requests known to God, and the peace of God will keep your heart and mind in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:6-7).

You won't get a job by trying to believe hard enough, and prayer as a power in itself won't do it either. Using faith and prayer as a power to get a job is occult sorcery.

But prayer is directed to God who has promised: "My God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory" (Philippians 4:19).

So, we put our request to God, leave it in His hands, then the immediate result will be that you will be filled with the peace of God. Then, you follow the leading of the Holy Spirit, using the resources that are available to you for finding a new job. Because He cares for you, He will supply your need in His time and in His way.

Thank you! That is exactly what I was looking for. When I prayed for guidance today, I asked for God's will to be done! I have taken the necessary steps to look and apply for a new position recently.

I know that God's will will be done, and I hope that I will have many opportunities to share His word with the people I will meet along the way.

I have been made redundant three times since 1990, and in 2004 I left teaching altogether after 19 years. I didn't know what to do, and I quoted that Scripture out of Isaiah (I think) when the city was under siege from the Assyrians. Isaiah and Hezekiah went into the temple and prayed saying, "We don't know what to do, but our eyes are upon you." God wrought a great miracle as a result for Isaiah and Hezekiah.

What happened was that there was an opening to do temping through an agency and I did a couple of temporary projects, then was invited, on one temping project to apply for a permanent job (that was at the local District Court). I got that job as a fixed term contract, but after two weeks a staff member left and I went to the manager and asked that my job be made permanent. That was approved and I worked there for 18 months and had a lot of fun being a Family Court Registrar, working with the Judges. A whole new experience for me. Then because my budget was tight, because I went down around $12,000 a year when I left teaching, I applied to be a Victim Advisor which had a slightly higher salary, and when I got that job, they had a review of salaries and my salary went up $12,000! Another thing, my wife had loaned her sister $50,000 a number of years before to help buy a home for her and her children, and just as I started with the Family Court, her sister relocated to Australia and paid back the $50,000, which was just what we needed at the time, and it was when it ran out that my salary with the new job went up $12,000! The miracle was in God's timing. I had around 10 years as a Victim Advisor, and it was exactly the right job for me as a Christian, because I was able to help people suffering from domestic violence, and a few times, I had great fellowship with Christian victims who came to the office.

When I retired, (I was chairperson of a budgeting agency since 1999), I decided to volunteer as the manager's support person at the agency, and after around six months, she decided to pay me for my time. That has supplemented my superannuation (retirement pension) so that there has been no difference in my wife's and my lifestyle.

So, this is my testimony of the outcome of having my eye on the Lord when finding myself without a job. It is a great adventure (looking back on it) not knowing how the Lord is going to provide for our needs, but as I used the resources available to me, He was able guide me. He doesn't guide people who just sit on the couch, waiting for something to happen. He steers us as we get out there and explore the possibilities.

Oh, one interesting episode - one temping job I had was in a warehouse, and they treated me like I was just a second-class person. I hated it, and complained to the Lord. He said, "You've got to walk the humble road, brother." After three weeks of that, earning a rock bottom wage, I asked the agency for another position, and I got one at a Gentleman's club doing computer projects. I finished the project in under two weeks, and he ran out of work to give me. He was surprised at how fast I was on the computer! Then I got the temping job at the Court and the rest is, as we say, history.

So be encouraged. God is no respecter of persons. If he can do it for me, He can do it for you!
