Pray for me, there is a spirit that is bothering me

This spirit has been bothering me for many years. Sometimes when I say, "In the name of Jesus, I rebuke you," it'll go away, but only for a few seconds. I've heard that when evil spirits move on a person they bring friends, so I'm probably dealing with more than one.

This spirit keeps me up at night, it tells me that horrible things are going to happen to me, but nothing happens. It's hard to get through my life with this spirit there in my way.

I know that God is working this for my good, but I need some advice on how to get rid of it.

If you've been baptized in the Name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit, then you've probably already received the Holy Spirit and just need to be led by Him and clothed in His power (what we call the baptism of the Holy Spirit). If it was just a water baptism and you're not sure if you received the Holy Spirit then Acts 19:1-7 should be the model prayer.

When you know its just a mental state of your brain, then you can get peace knowing that your are spiritually all right.

And treat it as any other disfunction of the body.. with the professional help or trying to figure out your own way how to make your will to be stronger and how to ignore what is not "your willfull thought".

Its not a spirit.

Your brain is broken like your leg can be broken. There is no being or personality behind voices you hear, its just a similar state to when we hear some song in head over and over even though we do not want it.

Began to treat it accordingly. With a broken leg you also do not just wait and pray, but do something to treat it.

Prayers are offered. Just remember, it does not have to be some evil spirit. There's enough evil in the flesh we still live with. Daily with walking in the Holy Spirit we put to death the flesh. Christ has equipped us. We who are in Christ are now fellow heirs to God's Glorious design. When attacked remember that. Praise God for His Glorious creation, for His Awesome salvation, sing a hymn love Him and Praise Him! Those awful fleshly thoughts will melt away as we read, pray, and sing His Word. Think on the beauty of His Love that God loves us so that He sent the Divine Logos God the Son in the flesh to redeem us. Wow what love that God would become one of us to save us.

And always remember (perhaps recite this in the lowest and when trepidation tries to take its toll on us):

26In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; 27and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Prayer and fasting can be helpful. Spirits can bother from within and from without. If you feel like it has residence in your soul then it means it has grounds. Often grounds stem from one of unforgiveness (and often related bitterness), unrepented sin or generational sin (occult can be a big one). These are not exclusive but usually they can get at a lot of issues. Unforgiveness is huge. Try to identify what you're thinking/feeling when it attacks you or if it attacks you in a specific place or time. There are many books you can get on deliverance.

We're not supposed to do deliverance on this site so I'm not going to attempt that but I have used the services provided by Everett Cox online (Self Ministry: Your Online Guide To Home Based Ministry | Deliverance Ministries). I would strongly recommend you research and pray and consult wise counselors before you go to a deliverance because it can be bad if you deliver yourself but don't get at the grounds. I don't agree with everything Cox does (in particular I don't believe in using visualization techniques although I don't know that I can say they are sinful) but I have found his videos helpful to me. If anything they should help you perhaps get an understanding of what could be the source of these afflictions. There are also books on inner healing that you might want to look into.
