California Hires Ex-Attorney General Holder to Fight Trump

Democratic leaders in the California Legislature said Wednesday they have hired former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder to advise them on a legal strategy as they gird for a fight against President-elect Donald Trump.

The precise role of the high-profile lawyer remained unclear, but his politically connected firm will be paid $25,000 a month plus expenses from the Legislature's budget to help lawmakers develop strategies "regarding potential actions of the federal government that may be of concern to the state of California," according to the contract with Holder.

The initial agreement runs for three months beginning Feb. 1. After that, the parties will renegotiate the deal, said Kevin Liao, a spokesman for Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon, D-Paramount.

Vast Majority of Californians Want to End Sanctuary Cities

An October 2014 report from ICE that was made public in 2015 detailed 276 sanctuary cities that released 8,145 illegal migrants of whom 1,867 were later arrested 4,298 times with multiple violations amounting to 7,491 charges. Illegal migrants are 3.5 percent of the U.S. population but are 37.6 percent of federal sentences and 13.6 percent of all offenders sentenced for crimes nationwide. The undocumented comprise 12 percent of murder sentences, 20 percent of kidnapping sentences and 16 percent of drug trafficking sentences. Unauthorized migrants are about 7 percent of the California population but over 12 percent of the state prison population.

An IGS-UC Berkeley poll shows that 74 percent of Californians want sanctuary cities ended; 65 percent of Hispanics, 70 percent of independents, 73 percent of Democrats and 82 percent of Republicans.

And yet, CA legislators want to make it even harder to enforce the countries laws.

Father, we have seen in Your Word how Israel would become so distant from You, and that at times there would be great revivals. I pray for Californians in government to repent of their sins and ungodly thinking, and to turn to You, the only real, long lasting solution to their problems. Nineveh, repented. So can major portions of Ca. Nothing is too hard for you. Thank You for the mighty power You will show in one way or the other. Amen.
