Potatoes are very nutritious.

Nothing wrong with potatoes, except maybe in preparing them in a unhealthy way.

Of course, you have this low carb kick, which puts potatoes in a bad light, but if a person is active they shouldn't worry about that.

It's that darned 'high' GI rating.

Growing up we bought potatoes by the 50 pound sack. Peeling potatoes (and mashing them) for the supper meal was an everyday duty for us kids. As we had roasted meat of some sort with most supper meals we usually had 'mashed potatoes and gravy'. Never get tired of it.

Not all potato dishes are as appealing. My grandmother, an old German, would occasionally make 'potato pancakes' for my dad. With the possible exception of rutabaga, which was also afflicted on us, it was one of the most awful tasting dishes I have ever eaten. :sput:

With skins, whenever possible, as long as the skins are not toxic with too many pesticides, etc. LOL

Mom always told me that was the best part, but though I didn't know any better then, I disagree now... pesticides cause brain damage....or is that painfully evident. :)

This is why you thoroughly clean the potato, or any produce for that matter.

I know what you mean. I have nervous tics. I don't mean I have bugs that are nervous but the uncontrollable blinking and facial twitching from eating all those potato skins. o_O

I have actual nervous bugs crawling on me constantly, but no one else can see them.

Proper preparation is key.

I don't know, one of them people (you know who they are), should be posting here shortly about how Jesus never ate potatoes, or that the disciples only ate hash browns. Maybe that we shouldn't eat potatoes because they taint our souls.

Potatoes were genetically engineered by the pagan Inca tribes. Need I say more?

You mean the ones who's growth was stunted by eating their own product? Pretty sure they went by the name, Tater Tots.

Napoleon liked potatoes. What more can be said?

No wonder he was always scowling.

They were bad enough that he couldn't sit his horse during the Battle of Waterloo. Rode around in a coach sitting on a ring.

I'll bet that if he had won he would have had a portrait of himself sitting on a big white horse.

He was probably thinking "If this isn't bad enough I think that I might lose this battle too."

I loved mashed potatoes as a kid, but put ketchup on them. As I put it on everything else too.

You mean you like a little food with your ketchup.
