Even among Christians, however, not everyone seems to believe that the active ingredient in salvation is Christ. Hence the heartburn if it's suggested that a person could be saved apart from knowing Christ. Christ doesn't seem to be enough; those being saved have to "know" or "believe" in him first, otherwise his status as savior—and theirs as saved—is a no-go. In other words, Christ (apparently) can't do it alone without our help.
Foul language should probably be avoided. As well as the assumption that one's religion of choice is the One True Religion™, because so many religions consider themselves that already, and look where it's gotten them.
