I dont want to mislead people but it sounds like the Pope is starting the new world order. He has a "new humanism pact " he wants a meeting with all the world leaders in may 2020. I'm not sure if there is a thread for this already but I'm pretty sure it would have been a prioritized topic if it was, its for worldly education. I'm not buying into this though. Pope Francis invites religious, political leaders to sign ‘Global Pact’ for ‘new humanism’: Prelude to a schism or the Antichrist?

Best to keep political (government) and church separate ... totally separate.

Humanism is a secular philosophy that place humanity at the center of the universe. Catholicism, at least during the previous several hundreds of years is a religion that places God at the center of the universe. Seems like a very strange thing for a Pope to propose humanism as the answer to the world's problems.

Would be, if that were so, yes. But it is not it appears:

If you heard a 2nd hand accusation against some person...you'd not rush to judgement until you heard more, right?

John 7:24 Stop judging by outward appearances, and start judging justly."

We'd instead want to hear more what the person themself says? I'm asking you yourself: would you want to hear more of that person's own statement instead of a 2nd hand report that paints a picture about them?

The Vatican will host a meeting on 14 May 2020 in the Paul VI Hall to reflect on the theme “Reinventing the Global Educational Alliance”.

The Holy See Press Office announced that the Pope has invited representatives from various religions, NGOs, academia, and cultural and political leaders to attend, in hopes of endorsing the “Global Compact on Education”.

Renew dialogue
Pope Francis lent his support to the initiative on Thursday.

In his written message, the Pope said the meeting “will rekindle our dedication for and with young people, renewing our passion for a more open and inclusive education, including patient listening, constructive dialogue, and better mutual understanding.”

The goal, he stressed, is to develop “a new universal solidarity and a more welcoming society,” adding that education is key to driving positive change.

In an educational village
“Never before has there been such need to unite our efforts in a broad educational alliance, to form mature individuals capable of overcoming division and antagonism, and to restore the fabric of relationships for the sake of a more fraternal humanity,” he said.

Quoting an African proverb – “It takes a whole village to educate a child” – Pope Francis called for the creation of an “educational village”.

In such a system, he said, everyone would participate according to their respective roles to form a “network of open, human relationships.”

The Pope called it an alliance that “integrates and respects all aspects of the person, uniting studies and everyday life, teachers, students and their families, and civil society in its intellectual, scientific, artistic, athletic, political, business, and charitable dimensions.”

And he laid out several steps towards creating this “educating village”.

Along paths of fraternity
For this project to succeed, Pope Francis said, fraternity must be allowed to flourish and discrimination swept aside, as he urged in the Document on Human Fraternity signed in Abu Dhabi with the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar.

The Pope said the first step is finding “the courage to place the human person at the center.” This means recognizing the world’s interconnectedness and re-thinking economics, politics, growth, and progress, giving pride-of-place to an integral ecology that rejects the throw-away culture.

Next, Pope Francis called for summoning up “the courage to capitalize on our best energies”. The status quo should be replaced by giving education “a long-term vision”, to create a new humanism. The result, he added, will be “men and women who are open, responsible, prepared to listen, dialogue and reflect with others, and capable of weaving relationships with families, between generations, and with civil society.”

The Pope said a further step is “the courage to train individuals who are ready to offer themselves in service to the community.” Service, he said, is the “pillar of the culture of encounter”, and means helping the neediest of people and discovering that “there is more joy in giving than in receiving.”

Is it a good thing for a Christian group to do a civil service project, such as for instance restoring a park or feeding the homeless?

Restoring a park will not save souls, but it's a nice action. Feeding the homeless is a nice charity.

But...visibly helping society is a way for a church to help outsiders learn that Christians are not just people who claim to follow God and Christ, but also are people who actually have something motivating them to do good things:

Matthew 5:16 In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

When we do good things visibly, it's a way to help the lost realize there is something about a church that could motivate people to care about others, to do good, to encourage good relationships....good things.

It's a chance to help people who are lost have another look, and wonder if a church might be interesting to visit.

And if they have a 2nd look, they might learn of the only hope for mankind, Christ Jesus.

From what the person said himself according to the first link posted in the above.

"To direct history
Pope Francis concluded by inviting everyone to commit themselves to improving their communities and to promoting “forward-looking initiatives that can give direction to history and change it for the better.”"

After reading your post, I no longer think the OP was very much off base in the way the Pope's intentions were portrayed by the article the OP linked to. A Pope purporting that forward looking human initiatives are not only able to but are the way to direct the course of future history in order to change it for the better does not seem to buy into the idea that Christ is the answer.

I did not mash politics and church together thats the popes doing. The Pope is the leader of the catholic church not a worldly ambassador.
I just noticed that this thread is in Christian Advice and I am perplexed as to why or how it fits here.
Yeah I just noticed that my bad, I'm not that great at categorizing stuff. I wonder if a mod will eventually move it to its rightful place.
