Do you mean there could’ve been a “clan” aka small group of soul-less people who interbred with Adam and Eves offspring?
That is not what I am proposing. I am proposing either that such interbreeding happened beforehand, before human ensoulment OR that all or most of the genus was ensouled.
If so isn’t that what Feser wrote about? And how is it different from polygenism?
That's where a careful listen to Jimmy Akin might help. I'm not keen on polygenism in general. But Akin does clarify that the prohibition on polygenism may have been relaxed a bit. A bit. Which is how I think I can go with a clan rather than just two individuals.

One point of clarification though. Animals have souls, dogs have dog souls and fish have fish souls and humans have human souls, all after our kind. At some point we humans got human souls rather than just some sort of pre-human primate souls. So, soul-less is a misnomer. The question is when we got human souls, AKA when did we become human. Sorry to have been imprecise earlier. When I said ensoulment I should have specifically said human ensoulment. With the requisite rationality and all the other trappings of being really human.
