Depends. Were they subpoenaed? If so then yes. If not then the IRS needs to treat them the same as they would any other citizen.

The House can request under the law House committee formally requests 6 years of Trump's tax returns from IRS
That isn’t the same as a public disclosure but we can expect that is the ultimate goal.
The President— any President— is not just any citizen.

The optics of this for Dem leaders aren't looking good—a nothing burger witch hunt for "Russia collusion" followed by this makes them look desperate to find any kind of way they can to hurt the president. I guess they know that they can't beat him in an election, so they are trying every other kind of way.

They also needed to know if he is a Russian agent. 2 years of investigations at horrendous expense, and some people are still not satisfied to find out that he isn't.

Sounds good to me. As much smoke as Trump emits, there’s fire somewhere. Remember, the Mueller investigation did not look directly at Trumps finances, but did bust several of his soldiers.

He was when he filed his tax returns. As long as this would be allowed for any other citizen then I see no issue.

I expect my President to be transparent. We should know who he owes money to for national security reasons at minimum. If I am trying to get a top security clearance, I should have no financial secrets. Why should the President be held to a lesser standard?

That Trump should release his tax returns is politically motivated nonsense and there's no reason for him to do it. His tax return is likely hundreds of pages long and the only parts of it anyone is going to see of it is what gets filtered through partisans.

...if/when this ends up in the Supreme Court, it will be interesting to see how they rule. I understand the law authorizing Congress to request an individual's tax return leaves no room for wiggle room.
