  1. Welcome to Christian Forums, a forum to discuss Christianity in a friendly surrounding.

Your voice is missing! You will need to register to be able to join in fellowship with Christians all over the world.

We hope to see you as a part of our community soon and God Bless!

  2. The forums in the Christian Congregations category are now open only to Christian members. Please review our current Faith Groups list for information on which faith groups are considered to be Christian faiths. Christian members please remember to read the Statement of Purpose threads for each forum within Christian Congregations before posting in the forum.
  3. Please note there is a new rule regarding the posting of videos. It reads, "Post a summary of the videos you post . An exception can be made for music videos.". Unless you are simply sharing music, please post a summary, or the gist, of the video you wish to share.
  4. There have been some changes in the Life Stages section involving the following forums: Roaring 20s, Terrific Thirties, Fabulous Forties, and Golden Eagles. They are changed to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X, and Golden Eagles will have a slight change.
  5. CF Staff, Angels and Ambassadors; ask that you join us in praying for the world in this difficult time, asking our Holy Father to stop the spread of the virus, and for healing of all affected.
  6. We are no longer allowing posts or threads that deny the existence of Covid-19. Members have lost loved ones to this virus and are grieving. As a Christian site, we do not need to add to the pain of the loss by allowing posts that deny the existence of the virus that killed their loved one. Future post denying the Covid-19 existence, calling it a hoax, will be addressed via the warning system.
  7. There has been an addition to the announcement regarding unacceptable nick names. The phrase "Let's go Brandon" actually stands for a profanity and will be seen as a violation of the profanity rule in the future.

Well, good for you! Welcome! Now you are free to be miserable over our lack of liberty like the rest of us ;)

As for my apparent shift from moderate left to moderate right I'd say it's my disagreeableness that's to blame, except I don't think I agree with the result...

Maybe they needed a "Political Curmudgeon" category for some of us! :)

Hmm. I got Ambivalent Right. Close enough, I guess, although I consider myself more in the center.

Funny thing is, when picking a score of 0 to 100 for Republicans, I picked 0, thanks to all the current Trumpism. But I only gave Democrats a 30.

I gave Democrats a 50 and republicans a 30. Mostly because I agree with the libertarian leaning republicans on several issues. Trump left a very bad taste however.

In what will likely shock many here, I got Ambivalent Right. Despite being Independent, and a Republican for most of my life, many on the Right here seem to believe I'm a card carrying leftist.

The right wing is no longer conservative, (they’re right wing populists nowadays).

I thought, at least, one of the questions was a false dichotomy,...

I think the questions are purposefully polar. They want to force you to one side or the other, which is why they ask which is closest to what you think. That makes answering them difficult sometimes.

Also, some of the questions skirted the issue that I think actually divides left and right. For instance, the question about corporate profits... I have no issue with corporations making profits, even obscene amounts of profit. It's what they do with the profits that I think really divides left and right.

I'm not an American, I'm a Canadian so no doubt my Canadian perspective skewed the results (they definitely did) but what I got was "Ambivalent Right" which is another way of saying I a conservative but I don't like how the US does it.

I will however comment on the labels that terms like "Outsider", "Stressed", "Ambivalent" have negative or displaced associations making you feel like you've answered something incorrectly or need to fix something. it is clear they are pushing you to fit in a 2 party system which seems counterproductive to the headline of "Beyond Red vs. Blue..." Since the groupings are in threes with upper 3 for right, lower 3 for left, and the middle 3 for "displaced" they should have identified a new group to allow individuals to feel their political identity is correct without feeling like they are pushed one way or the other.

    'Outsider Left"

I particularly resonate with this part: While they aren’t particularly happy with the Democratic Party, they also have deeply negative views of the GOP.

The USA has a 2- party system. As for the headline, I think its about the constituency and not the parties.

Outsider Left which surprised me as I consider myself to be a left-leaning conservative (if that makes sense). I do believe in progressive values but they should be approached slowly.

Another Canadian apologizing for something they haven't done! I think the intent was not to make you the (hypothetical) voter feel bad, but rather to show that the parties aren't a comfortable home for many people. Can the parties respond to attract the more ambivalent people into the tent? Or will they bar the doors and try to keep their energetic bases from escaping?
