The PBS Newshour this evening had a report on an interesting new paper from the Pew Research Center that outlines 9 different political groups in the US, with the two major parties each being coalitions of four of these groups. Their groups are:
  • Faith and Flag Conservatives
  • Committed Conservatives
  • Populist Right
  • Ambivalent Right
  • Stressed Sideliners
  • Outsider Left
  • Democratic Mainstays
  • Establishment Liberals
  • Progressive Left
The Newshour and the Pew Research Center put together a quiz to help people figure out which group best describes them. If you're interested, the quiz is here: Political Typology Quiz

My own result was Progressive Left. Not overly surprising. :)

The full report, "Beyond Red vs. Blue: The Political Typology", is here: The Political Typology: In polarized era, deep divisions persist within coalitions of both Democrats and Republicans

I took the quiz twice and answered the questions as I would have answered before the 2020 election and again as I would answer them now and it seemed I've moved from what they call Democratic Mainstay to Ambivalent Right.

I'm just left of center libertarian on the political quandrant quiz, which I agree with, but ambivalently conservative according to this quiz. I have my doubts.

Hmm I'd considered myself Progressive until very recently, but I've been wondering lately if I've turned Libertarian to some degree.

..... What the ..... ? I tried to take the survey, and when I reached the end and attempted to submit, I received the following message from Pew Research: "There has been a critical error on this website"

I honestly don't know why. I seem to get that kind of response no matter what I do. Geez!

Doesn't work for me either. Stops after 3rd question. It must be over run right now, but even without taking the quiz, I'm sure I must be a "Stressed Sideliner" with an emphasis on Stressed.

We're just complicated people, I guess. ^_^

(But seriously--I hope they get that technical glitch fixed so we can proceed.)

Outsider Left, which was my guess before taking the quiz.

OK. I tried again, and it's telling me that I'm 'Ambivalent Right,' which I guess is sorta close since I consider myself a Purple on politics. So, that's that.

Couldn't complete the quiz without first turning off my privacy protection "trackers". Now I'm a Paranoid Stressed Sideliner.

LOL I think politics has everyone a bit on edge with what is true or not. But there is what is true and then there is the Truth. The Truth is God's got us. We are blessed, because of Him.
