Hey everyone. I have a 4-year-old son named Colton. He has been having problems with growing, eating, and gaining weight since birth. As a baby, he would almost never drink more than 4 oz of formula although on rare occasions he would drink 6 oz and that was the maximum. We thought he had colic until he was 4 months old and we took him to a pediatrician and discovered that he was actually lactose intolerant. At the age of 1, CPS got involved because he would not grow like he was supposed to. We ended up getting a G tube for him which is a feeding tube surgically put in his stomach. He finally started to grow like CPS wanted him to and they closed his case. Unfortunately, it didn't last long. He then started having more problems. He would throw up all the time and we were in and out of the hospital a couple of times and we finally got his vomiting under control for a time. It turns out that he also has Gastro-Esophageal Reflux Disease and so he is on medicine for it. We have seen numerous specialists over the years but through it all, he has only gained weight like he is supposed to for very short periods of time. A couple of months ago, CPS became involved in our lives again because he was underweight and not gaining weight like he was supposed to. Finally, we had genetic testing done and it revealed that he has a problem with his chromosomes. He has duplication of the 15th chromosome which can cause feeding difficulties and slow growth. We believe that this is a big reason for his problems. We have to see a geneticist here soon about it. In addition, he also has enlarged tonsils and we're going to see an Ear Nose and Throat doctor here soon to see about getting them removed because that might be part of the reason why he barely eats. On top of this, Colton also has Pediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnea and Iron Deficiency. So anyway, David and I are desperate to see our child gain weight and grow normally. We are slowly but surely getting the answers we need but we could really use your prayers. Thank you in advance.
