So, we received a little preview into our wedding photos today...thought I would share a few for fun.

We never actually got our wedding photos. We had a photographer who took some really beautiful pictures, but we moved a few months after our wedding, and then he moved shortly after that, and we lost track of him (this was before everything could be found on the Internet, and long before social media) so never got our pictures. I’ve thought of trying to search for him now, but 23 years later, I doubt he’d still have the negatives or that they would be in good shape even if he did.

Fortunately, we (somewhere) have a few pictures that our guests took, but when I look at my wonderful wife everyday, I don’t need photos to remember one of the best days of my lives (my children’s births were pretty awesome, too).

That really puts perspective on things. Sometimes I put too much investment in pictures. In my heart, I know I would have been in tears if our pictures were lost. I feel kind of ashamed of that after reading your story. Thank you for sharing that.

Oh, I’m so sorry. Please forgive me. The last thing I would want is to make you feel ashamed. I meant no reflection on you at all. Your pictures are lovely, and you should value them.

After recent deaths and changes (kids growing up and moving out) in our family life, I actually have an increased appreciation for pictures. Take lots, and then some more. Save them to the cloud, print them, display them and treasure them. They mean a lot later on.

(But don’t put all your energy into the image when the actual object of that image is present...)
