Two words I am growing tired of seeing, not that anybody should care, BUT...

Dogma
Doctrine

They seem like lazy global speak buzzwords to me. Is there nothing
that can take the place of those two snobby-sounding gibberish fake intellectual words?

dogma sounds like when the atheist uses it for me i don't like it, but doctrine is fine with me, it just means a set of rules or i don't know beliefs that are taught.

Traditional Christianity is dogmatic. I understand that seeing those words thrown about too often or too carelessly can be annoying. But those are legit words in my Church and are not intended to bother anyone.

Dogma means revealed truth.

Doctrine means teaching.

Just because you don't like them doesn't mean that hundreds of years of English speaking Christians before you have not found them useful.

I have always tried to avoid "buzzwords" in anything really. I feel like they lead to complacency.

You could use "tenet" in place of "dogma" or "teaching" in place of "doctrine".

Or you could just explain things without using either word. Whatever works. I wouldn't be dogm...tenet-matic about it. :p
Right. If a person likes one of the words mentioned in the thread, use it. If the person prefers another, he or she can use that one instead.

I do think however, that doctrine and dogma normally refer to official positions taken by the church, whereas some of the suggested alternatives may be characteristic of whichever church it is, but not an official position taken that church.

Christian Advice is a non-debate area for members to ask and receive Biblically-based, Christian advice for a struggle they are encountering.
Dogma and Doctrine by their very nature are debate terms and do not belong in Christian Advice.
