I'd argue that even pure theologians have to go outside the Bible to prove a point. The only problem with that is, their definition of what a "false teacher" is is so broad, that they fit the mold of a false teacher oftentimes themselves without realizing it. I assert that when the Bible speaks of "false teachers" and "wolves in sheep's clothing" they are more talking about things we never thought of like certain cult groups and not our beautiful, misinformed (or rightly informed and people just don't agree) brothers and sisters.
