Anyone here go to PCC? Anyone here going to PCC? Can anyone here that is going to PCC tell me what a good sign of me getting into PCC would be? :)

I'm working on it for Fall '05 Semester...

I'd LOVE to get to know anyone who may be going to or already going to PCC, it'd be fun to get aquainted and if I do wind up there, we could meet (probably the safest way to meet through the internet right? At a Bible College :D

Peace!

There is a common theme in all of the negative reviews.... The rules... I have no problem with a strict school and no problem with dress codes and boy/girl rules. In fact I encourage it. I'm sick of a world where teens and young adults rule the world and have no regard for anyone else. These are the types of people who made the comments.

I'd say go for it! I have 2 friends already there and 2 more heading there this Fall. It's the school I wanted to go to since 5th grade and in my Junior year finally got the hint I was never going to get there, just expenses and I didn't think I would ever make it there because of the school I graduated from.

I'd recommed PCC to anyone, the people are great, they came to our school quite a few times and did presentations.

Best of luck to you in your decision making

I think you have some good points but I'm positive you could do much better than a nonaccredited college like pcc.

I could transfer to any Christian College through PCC... It's just that I wouldn't be able to transfer to a Secular college... with my major that wouldn't be the best of ideas.

In point of fact, you cannot necessarilly transfer to any other Christian college. You may be able to transfer to some... but others may not be inclined to accept any transfers from unaccredited colleges. Each college makes it's own decisions regarding transfers. So, if you are planning on transfering, make sure before you enroll that your credits will transfer.

I know of several Christian high school guidance counselors who will no longer allow reps from Pensecola into their schools because they have found that PCC misleads their students and out-and-out lies to them. Their campus rules are VERY strict - no jeans for the next 4 years, strict - so be sure you have read a current copy of the student handbook (not just listened to someone tell you what a few of the rules are) before you decide to go.

I'm sorry, but all of the complaints I'm getting are about the dress code and the fact that you need permission to go off-campus. That's not as strict as it may sound. I'm in total agreement with them only allowing girls to wear dresses and skirts and guys dress pants. That's the modesty issue (the girls part)... I've emailed several people who go now and not one of them has a problem with it. As for misleading the students... only happens if your faith isn't strong. PLain and simple. It's a conservative school. I'm a conservative Christian. :holy:

Wow, I just spent the last half hour reading student/alumni reviews of PCC. Why would anyone go there? Some words that were abundant in the reviews: cult, hipocrisy, skirts & stockings, degrading, legalistic, not accredited....(there's a clue...) Music, bedtimes, internet use...all regulated...it sounds like a prison. As a matter of fact, one ex-student referred to it as the Pensacola Concentration Camp.

You my friend, have issues. ;) Anyways, I've talked to people who are there now and who are just as excited as you get about going back to messiah.

It is the practice of Pensacola Christian College, and other colleges and universities, to accept or reject credits based on their own institutional criteria regardless of whether or not that particular school transferring credit is accredited. Pensacola Christian College desires that each enrolling student complete his degree program with this institution: however, if a student wishes to transfer to another institution at any point in time, it is the student's responsibility to confirm whether or not credits will be accepted by another college of the student's choice.

Every hour in each semester is credited... it's listed on several sites under "Accredited Christian Universities and Colleges" and it states in an information packet I have the above /\

A negative review... does this sound much like someone seeking God's will? Most of the reviews were like this one.

You will not play Poker with your buddies and you definitely will not be playing strip poker with any sweet ladies...unless you are into your roomates, which i have heard rumors about, not that I'm judging!! Basically, if you chose to attend this college you will give up every right to freedom of expression and freedom of speech, your rights to peaceful assembly, and your God given right to check out some sweet honeys on the beach. my point is, make sure your ready for the sacrifices you will have to make, be prepared for a complete lack of trust, and a serious double standard.
it's your decision, but i think you should educate yourself as to the policies and practices of any college before you even think about attending.
nothin but love ya'll powell

Here's my favorite.. two positives... I especially like what the girl in the bottom one said "Whiners outnumber the praisers in this world."

As far as academics, PCC is quite challenging. Professors are kind and knowledgeable. Socially, the only ones who have problems are the ones who whine about the rules and turn into undesirable sour grapes. Spiritually, I was in awe the first week at the revival (athough it has taken some time getting use to a hymnal again...but I like it)
No, PCC is not for everyone. If it were there would be more than 4500 students. I would not have recommended it to myself in high school, ( Quite an odd statement , but you get my point) PCC is for a person who is willing to put everything into four years at a God-honoring, christian college and is willing to give up freedom to accomplish that purpose.
The saddest thing to see is a complainer. A graduate who complains about the time they had a PCC or an undergraduate student complaining abut the "legalistic" rules, needs to get a attitude check and realize that God has placed us in situations for service not selfishness. Everything is life isn't fair, so grow up.
If you don't want to be at PCC, don't come. I discovered that personal priorities must be God's priorities or one will be completely miserable. If your reasons for going somewhere else stem from rebellion or selfishness you will fall flat on your face. If God wants you at another institution, but you come to PCC just because it's cheap then that's pretty sad, and you will end up as one of the sour grapes thinking that you are hot stuff due to the many PCC jokes you drum up at the Four Winds (dining area).
I've learned so much about God's Word at PCC (it's preached all the time). I've enjoyed the christian atmosphere ( not perfect, but I haven't seen better.) It's four years at a place that strives to serve the Lord, check it out.

Above we are asked to not "reply" to other reviews and I will no reply specifically to any. I honestly was close to tears as I read all of these sad reviews of a wonderful school. To anyone who is reading these please consider this: in life who do you hear from more, happy people or mad people? If you go through a drive through and the order that comes to you is right, how many people look at the person working the window and say, "Thank you for getting my order right." Realistically, those who the person working at the window will hear from is the person who is angry because their order is wrong--the person who threatens to never eat hear again because that person made a mistake. Honestly, I myself rarely am that one to make a positive comment on a job well done. We do live in a very negative society. With road rage, "my rights" promoters, people looking for a free dollar because they were "done wrong", etc. we hear the negative side of everything. Please don't take the number of negative comments on here as "proof" that PCC is a "bad place". On the contrary, if you are not a rebellious "buck-the-system" type person, PCC may be for you. But seek God's will, not these opinions. I challenge anyone who is feeling that God may be leading in the direction of PCC to go visit the campus for himself/herself. Talk to the student body. Get many opinions. Stay in the dorm. Seek to know for yourself. DON'T CLOSE OUT GOD'S WILL BECAUSE WHINERS OUT-NUMBER THE PRAISERS IN THIS WORLD. Pray. Seek the Lord. PCC is not a cult, it is a place that is set apart for the training of Christian young people. If PCC is not God's will for you, please don't hurt the wonderful student body by becoming a part of it. If it is God's will, come, knowing that God has a wonderful plan for you, and He is going to accomplish that plan through what He does in your heart and life at PCC. I love this place and it hurts to think that some people may get an unrealistic view. Come see for yourself what the truth is. I challenge you.

There are 6 accrediting agencies authorized & approved by the Department of Education and CHEA (Council for Higher Education Accreditation):
Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools

New England Association of Schools and Colleges

North Central Association of Colleges and Schools

Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges

Southern Association of Colleges and Schools

Western Association of Schools and Colleges

These "regional" agencies are the most widely respected, and are what grad schools & employers look for when checking out your college.
-Pensacola is not accreddited by any of these agencies

There's also several "lesser" agencies like TRACS, AABC, & ATS. Not all colleges & employers recognize them, but chances are they most likely will.
-Penscola is not accreddited by any of these.

In the last category are "scam" agencies like the Accrediting Commission International.
-For once a good thing, Pensacola is not accredited by any of these.

Like a lot of people have said before, I'm sure you could find much better colleges both academically & spiritually than a non-accredited PCC. Have you at least thought of other colleges like Pepperdine?

Be my guest. It sounds as if you might like PCC very much.

But I would like to know who has accredited PCC.

It is not accredited by SACS - Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, the regional accrediting body. PCC is not a member of any of the following: Council of Christian Colleges and Univerisities, National Association of Christian College Admissions Personnel or Council of Christian Colleges and Universities.

There are, however, quite a number of accrediting bodies, so while SACS is the premier one for the region, it might be accredited by others. Which ones?

It doesn't matter to me.... I'm going to be a missionary, my only issue would be trying to transfer... most mission boards accept non-accredited schools as well.... so whether it is accredited or not doesn't matter.

Blitz, I was referring to what I've God a Secret thinks it means.

I've Got a Secret, missionaries, if paid at all (are they even paid at all? The good ones shouldn't IMO), probably don't make much.

What you need is an actual fully-accredited degree that will get you somewhere in life.
