• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

I have noticed a pattern for myself with my symptoms. As a week progresses my symptoms seem to worsen. I wonder if it could be because I'm more fatigued after working and running errands for a handful of days.

I usually try to spend a lot of time resting over the weekend. This means taking naps, sleeping as late as I can in the mornings (which isn't much, I'm an early riser no matter how hard I try to stay asleep, and sometimes symptoms get worse during the night and I'm get woke up by them). I also spend a lot of time sitting on the futon in the living room. The most I usually accomplish is making sure we all have three meals a day and any grocery shopping we might need. I try to get exercise in from physical therapy or some light cardio. That's about all I have energy for on Saturday and Sunday, and I often struggle to do that much.

After resting as much as possible on the weekend, I'm usually better on Mondays and Tuesdays. The symptoms are still there, but they are not as intense and the duration of episodes don't last as long. Then Wednesday is a little tough. Thursday is usually pretty bad. Friday is barely tolerable. The exhaustion, muscle spasms, stiffness, lack of coordination and balance, pain, restlessness, and inability to sleep through the night get really bad. Then I repeat my weekend plans of doing a little more than nothing so I can recuperate. I have found that when I don't rest as much as possible on weekends, then I can't function well on Monday or make it through a full week of work and errands.
