It seems today it is usually a sense of dedication or pride or some such inspired by parents/ friends/ politics or finances (need a job - join the military ! ) ...
There's no ideal example, because usually it is sinful.

How is that an experiment ? Some of them are sinful and patriotic,
some of them are sinful and not patriotic,
and some of them follow Jesus and are not patriotic.

I don't know if that's a fair statement to make. Many millions have died for their country. By all accounts, then, joining the military to protect and defend your country is idolatry.

No. I'm not sure what the ideals of patriotism would be other countries.

Kind of an odd one, as burning the flag is the proper means of disposal. Burning a flag and leaving its remains in the street is unpatriotic, it is generally considered a symbol of hatred for a nation.

Usually, yes, but not "all accounts"; only most of the time.
Someone rarely will obey YHWH, like Desmond Doss....
and be in the military ..... without committing pride or idolatry , etc ....
