That doesn't sound like the counsel of a true "pastor" or even a real Christian. There are many men who go about "making merchandise of the people" in the Name of God.
If you want to follow Jesus, you'ld do well to be wary of what passes for Christianity in America. It sounds to me like he's awakened from the stupor that Christian pop culture and bible colleges produce.
Yes, there are many religious men who do not speak of Jesus, the Christ of God, and value "all the counsel of God". It is entirely possible that the preacher was only alluding to what some other men are saying in christendom, so I don't know the full context of what he was actually saying.
