What was the historical event of Passover and how does it apply to the Christian believers walk on a daily basis today.
Probably one of the most significant of the three major Hebrew feasts, appointed times or holy _ days is the eight day feast known as Passover .
The feast day or high day that is celebrated on the fourteenth day of the third Israelite calender month is also known as the feast day of Passover

What was the historical event of Passover
The exodus from Egypt for the Israelite slaves. After a series of 9 plagues, God sent the tenth one: death of the first born. But those who were there and had blood on the doorposts and lintel were spared, the death angel passed over them.

Actually it is seven days. An extra day was added by rabbinic tradition for those who do not actually live in the land since there was always a delay in transmitting the actual time and date of the New Moon.
The feast day or high day that is celebrated on the fourteenth day of the third Israelite calendar month
Actually it is the 14-15th of the month of Nisan (aka Abib) which is the first month of the biblical calendar but the 7th (or 8th*) month of the Hebrew civil calendar.

There are actually 3 feasts rolled together. Passover proper is at twilight at the end of Nisan 14. (just at sundown) It is only a few minutes, maybe an hour. long. Then starts the feast of Unleavened Bread. That lasts for 7 days. During that time is the Feast of First Fruits. (resurrection day) It is the day after the Sabbath. The pharisees considered Nisan 15 to be the sabbath in question so they always celebrated it on Nisan 16. OTOH, the Sadducees considered the weekly sabbath (Saturday) as being it, so that feast would always be the Sunday that occurred during Unleavened bread.

* certain years have 13 months. It is the month of Adar that gets duplicated (the month just prior to Nisan)

Very interesting.
In Matt 24, Jesus tell the Jews, before 70ad, to pray that their flight would not occur during winter or a sabbath. Perhaps a Jew could help me out on this.

Matt 24:20 Pray your flight not be on a sabbath or in winter
Matthew 24:20 Pray flight not on a sabbath

Matthew 24:19

"Woe yet to those in belly having and to those suckling in those the days!
20 Be ye praying yet that no may be becoming the flight of ye of winter neither a Sabbath"

Josephus says Titus encompassed Jerusalem on the feast of the Passover.
Was that considered a sabbath?

The Destruction of Jerusalem - George Peter Holford, 1805AD

The day on which Titus encompassed Jerusalem, was the feast of the Passover ;

The vial of divine wrath, which had been so long pouring out upon this devoted city was now emptying, and JERUSALEM, once "a praise in all the earth," and the subject of a thousand prophecies, deprived of' the staff of life, wrapt in flames, and bleeding on every side sunk into utter ruin and desolation.
This memorable siege terminated on the eighth day of the ninth month, A. D. 70 : its duration was nearly five months, the Romans having invested the city on the fourteenth day of the fourth month, preceeding.

Exodus 12:23 [Revelation 9:11]

[Luke 21:28/Revelation 9:11]

And for our time I have to wonder if there is a possible connection between the two witnesses of Revelation with the two goats of Yom Kippur?????

I've been wondering about that especially since 1990????

Yom Kippur/The Rapture connection?!
