Yeah im gunna go with the divinely inspired saints rather than the ever-changing scientists. Just like scripture, science is interpreted.I’m not one of those who thinks that ignorance about nature = good person . I just think it means you’re scientifically illiterate and proud of it.
even smart people can have harmless delusions ( shrug) . Especially physicists who usually have very little understanding of biology beyond basic stuff . A few tend to diss biologists because of the math thing . Evolution is actually a multidisciplinary field and is usually not taught well until grad school. You need to understand geology, paleontology biology some physics, anatomy in detail and zoology or botany. Neil Shubin who discovered Tiktaalik is a fish paleontologist for example . If he found a dinosaur he’d have to ask another paleontologist who specialises in dinosaurs to get very detailed information on it because the anatomy is different. He wouldnt ask a physicistA Physicist with 2 PhD’s who I personally know, who works in mainstream research at a local University to me, is "scientifically illiterate"?I believe it would be a bit rude of me to agree with you about that.
scientific theories are based on facts . If you have no facts then you’ve got no theory
scientists haven’t changed their mind about evolution since Darwin or wallace . What they have done is corrected minor mistakes , discarded the rare bad data and added a slew of new information . That’s a weird incorrect idea you have scientists being wildly wrong and trying to cover up mistakes .Yeah im gunna go with the divinely inspired saints rather than the ever-changing scientists. that glacial ice melt by 2020 wasn’t a theory . it was a hypothesis and they just got the timeline wrong . The glaciers ARE melting back and some have disappearedHi brightmoon,
Yes,usually, but they are based on facts that we see here and now. However, sometimes the facts are misinterpreted. On another thread, discussing ice melt, I pointed out how several years ago some climatologists laid claim to the 'fact' that by 2020 the glaciers of Glacier National Park would be gone. Well, here it is 2020, and while they are reduced in size, they are still there and they recently took all the signs down.
Admittedly this isn't a big deal, but it does point out that sometimes the 'theories' don't quite pan out the way they were expected to, even though they were based on facts. While we like to think of ourselves as very, very wise in our endeavors to know all about everything around us, sometimes, especially in forecasts and long ago historical events, there are factors that we don't know to consider that cause us to make erroneous claims.
God bless,
In Christ, ted
I’ve taken college level geology classesDo you know anything about geology?
the earth’s surface is contracting slightly that’s why the continental plates break and they move around because the semi-liquid mantle pushes them aroundExpansion and contraction, wouldn't the earth with the hot liquid core, be contracting as it cooled? Facts are raw data and science is often selective. Selecting facts to fit the theory is not science. Historians are well aware of that Fact.
confirmed facts aren’t discarded even if they don’t fit the theory . There was a big fight about 2 different theories of human evolution about 25 years ago. Both theories had confirmed facts that supported them . The multiregional theories ( different extinct human species contributed genes to modern humans) and the out of Africa theory. What they eventually realized was that both theories were correct . Different extinct human species contributed genes to modern humans AND H sapiens walked out of Africa and populated the entire world. I’ll repeat for the ones in the back , confirmed facts aren’t discardedExpansion and contraction, wouldn't the earth with the hot liquid core, be contracting as it cooled? Are they now? ( shrug) Arthur Conan Doyle believed in fairies . The inventor of one of the most coldly logical people in all literature -Sherlock HolmesYour words were "scientifically illiterate".

I am curious as to how many layers or strata have been observed. I have seen some sedimentary layers perhaps about fifty layers in one example from Spain.I’ve taken college level geology classes
The question was whether the earth was expanding or contracting. Either or Neither? NASA research found neither from the articles I could find but the "facts" are "fudged" in some respects so perhaps "shoehorned" is a better word than "discarded." So, I repeat for those is the back, raw data that is fudged and shoehorned into the theory is not science.confirmed facts aren’t discarded even if they don’t fit the theory . Have you seen examples of more layers?
I agree.. View attachment 271338Here’s a small blue lace agate pebble. Its a sedimentary quartz. It’s not difficult to get a lot of layers it just means that they were laid down at different times and they have different chemical make ups .

this is basic middle school physics . Cold things contract . the earth’s surface is cold . The core is hot and because the surface is shrinking it cracks apart . That’s why earth has tectonic plates . Not for any other bizarre reasonThe question was whether the earth was expanding or contracting. Either or Neither?
