She also has a new movie coming out!
Yeah, I've heard the right-wing talk show hosts talking about this documentary. "Undefeated" - too bad McCain got in her way.

Hilarious. Obama's supporters are supposedly a bunch of "Obamatons" who will excuse the President for anything, but Palin? Nothing's ever her fault. If history books disagree with her view of Paul Revere's ride, that means the history books must be wrong! Some Americans don't simply think Palin is unfit for office...they just "hate" and "fear" her.

Palin either has a gigantic ego, or her skin is so thin that she can't handle criticism.

That's the problem with Wikipedia. Anything on Wikipedia has to be viewed with scepticism and verified elsewhere.

I look to Wikipedia for interesting to know stuff, but never use it as a source.

I always look at the sources at the bottom of the page, and I take Wikipedia with a grain of salt especially when it comes to controversial subjects.

From the Alaska newspaper linked in the first post:

Meanwhile Palin herself defiantly asserts that her version of the ride of one of America's original tea-partiers is correct rather than to own up to the flub. “I didn't mess up,” Palin said. “I answered candidly and I know my American history ... Part of his ride was to warn the British that we’re already there.”

Okay, that's not the version that I heard in American history class :D If Palin has any evidence to back up her claim then I would like to see it.

Har har. Sorry to say, Sarah Palin gets the last laugh. Paul Revere *DID* ride out to warn the British. Not only that, but Paul Revere never did say, "The British are coming". Pure wives' tale. What do you think the colonists all were? Hello, like, BRITISH?!?? "The British are coming" makes no sense. They were all British. What he said was, "The Regulars are out." And he was captured along the Concord Trail, where he warned the regulars as well what was going to happen. What happened as a result? He got released. They realized they had much more pressing matters to attend to.

Beauty Queen: right. Media: wrong. Now, face the camera and admit to America: you are not smarter than a 5th grader.

That wasn't what he was out for. He got caught, yes, but he wasn't out to warn the British. He was out to alert the minutemen.

That said, the fact that one can even connect what she said to what really happened is pretty impressive.

What's more impressive is that you can quote what I said without reading it. He wasn't out to warn the British? What do you think the minutemen were? Martians?

Thanks Dale... takes me back to Stephen Colbert's definition of Wikiality (Wikiality - Wikiality, the Truthiness Encyclopedia)

Did anyone else see that Colbert encouraged some Wikiality on the entry for "bell"? One great thing about Wikipedia is they don't send vandalism down the memory hole.
Bell - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
"Bell may refer to:

According to Sarah Palin, used by Paul Revere to warn the British not to take American arms."

"Used by Paul Revere to tell the British that they wouldn't take our guns. USA! USA!"

Paul Revere only arrived at Lexington Commons at the tail end of that showdown, so he didn't physically ring the bell there. However, the British whom Revere warned did ring the bell, knowing that the regulars would also hear it, and thus informing them there would be no element of surprise when they arrived at the armory. Granted, the primary purpose of ringing the bells was to warn the villagers, but they also knew the regulars would hear it.

Palin wins. Ridiculers who are not as smart as they think they are lose.

It's back-application of terms, like the gospels referring to "the Jews" as distinct from the disciples (who were Jews).

If it's not okay for me to do, apply the same measure to Palin.

The point is, she was wrong no matter which way you slice it.

I'm not back-applying anything. Name one party in the whole Lexington incident who was not a British subject. Do tell. Paul Revere warned the British. Simple as that.

The REAL point is, Palin is NOT wrong. You are.

“Part of Paul Revere’s ride … was to warn the British who were already there, that you’re not going to succeed, you’re not going to take American arms … he did warn the British.”

So... Paul Revere was warning the British colonists, "you're not going to take away American arms"?

;)
