I first saw this on NBC News but I had trouble locating it on their website.
No matter, there are other sources.

Since Sarah Palin stood Paul Revere on his head by saying that he was trying to warn the British, Palin supporters have been trying to revise the story on Wikipedia to fit Palin's version.
There should be a George Orwell Award for this sort of thing.

Just in case you guys happened to miss it, this topic has been beaten to death over in the American Politics forum---ten pages worth: http://www.christianforums.com/t7565786/
Yeah, I even mentioned the Wikipedia rewriting, but that got lost in all the "she was right" "was not" exchange. I agree that this is worthy of its own thread.

That's the problem with Wikipedia. Anything on Wikipedia has to be viewed with scepticism and verified elsewhere.

I look to Wikipedia for interesting to know stuff, but never use it as a source.

That's true of most sources.

I do use it as a source for myself, but to make an argument, the footnotes are the real source to cite.

For the time being, editing the Revere entry is restricted.

I think this is one problem with the overall concept of expansion and free access to knowledge - no matter what you give someone, they can always twist it and change it at will. Simply cannot be avoided, really, if you want to still have that freedom of access.

As it is, Wiki should -as with all sources of information available- be viewed with at least a good helping of skepticism, and a large heaping of background checks for anything you find there.

Also, to be fair, the Paul Revere conspiracy is likely not a new thing; and if it is? Conspiracy nuts come up with stuff like that all the time. It will, hopefully, run it's course, and then only a handful of hardcore crack-jobs will give it any real credence.

The left must really fear Palin.

Fear her? Are you kidding? If she's the GOP candidate, 2012 looks pretty good from where I'm sitting.

Heck, I just might vote Republican in the primary. I'll campaign for her if that's what it takes. ;)

That's what's scary, that people will actually vote for her. Not her, the people voting for her.

Yeah, that's true. I've only voted Republican once, but it was for a less radical candidate I really wanted to beat the bat-[expletive] crazy one. He didn't win, but I tried.

Just look at all the effort expended by the left on her. She's not even running, and probably won't. But you all keep banging on her. So yeah, it's fear. It's obvious. And the more you deny it, the more obvious it is. It's fun to watch.

Just look at all the effort expended by the right to defend her

Banging on her?

Did you see the giant bus she is using for a family vacation up and down the east coast?

She also has a new movie coming out!

If she, or people like you, want "the left" to leave her alone then all she needs to do is stop putting herself in the limelight.
