Overcoming the spirit of Immorality:

Matthew 5:27-30

Jesus told His disciple to overcome the spirit of immorality. He is being helpful to the one He loves. It is a message about love and for everybody in the body of Christ. If you are not dealing with this issue, use this message to help others out of love, ministering to others.

Whoever that look at a women with lust has already committed adultery. If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off. Jesus is calling His disciples to flee from the spirit of immorality. It is not true that you won’t have the spirit of immorality by not doing the physical act. This will minimize our experience of God.

Verse 28

When you look to lust, it is already powerfully working in you. Is dangerous now, deal with it now. You have a disease, deal with it now. It is defiling you. Sometimes we don’t deal with this is because we don’t know is defiling us!

The good news is this is a treatable sickness, but we need to know it and deal with it. The eye gate is the key, this is how the spirit of immorality works in you and this is how you overcome, by addressing the eye gate.

Verse 28,29

Deal with it in a radical way, it won’t go away by itself. You have to be radical and make radical choice. Poke out your right eye, pull out your right arm. (not physical opps). Jesus links this to our eternal destiny that we could be blessed and see God (meaning experience and feel His presence-one of the 8 beatitude). This Is a love of God issue, this is about our loyal love to Jesus, to people we will be touching. It is not just the eternal hell that is the motivation to overcome immorality, but is about love.

What is immorality?

Include all sexual activity outside of marriage covenant. Verbal, physical and technology. You can’t go anywhere sexually unless you are married. Not the last few months before you married. Don’t let it be defiled.

When we are in immorality, we give Satan access. Satan has no access to our lives unless we open the door to him. The one that damage and injured our heart and ability to experience God. Without marriage, without lifelong commitment. Sexual activity will injure and defile yourself, the girl/guy, your family and their family. You will despise God by sinning against the one you love without a covenant.

The spirit of immorality is in you as long as you look in lust. We need to make a covenant with our eyes. (Job31). One of Satan’s main strategy is to use the media to pervert the world. This is not a subject to wait a few year about. Be careful!

There is no "good news" in telling people they must be more radical in overcoming their sins. That is legalism, not gospel.
The power of sin IS the law, as paul said.
you can poke out your eyes all you want, or just put blindfolders on, but i think we all know it wont stop temptation entering into the mind.
You can try to fight evil, but it will stick to you like glue, becuase your mind is on it as long as you fight it. You can strive to avoid sexual temptations, but your mind will be on it if you do. You can try to replace it with good, but it will be in the background waiting for the right time to pop its head up again, because you let it be there. Becuase the attitude is to overcome sins! That is law.

He took care of it, so why should we fight it? If its done, why do we think it is not done and have to add our power to it? is it by power and minght and not by his spirit after all?
You can give into sin or try to overcome it, but theres a third way to live, that doesnt include eating of the tree of knowledge of good vs evil at all and thereby having our actions motivated by any deadbringing law. But that way of life doesnt give glory to man, so keep it up lol!

That's right. It is the Holy Spirit who works in us to make the works of the flesh extinct and to work the fruit of the Spirit in us. The good fruit tree does not grow its fruit by self-effort. We don't see the tree struggling and straining to grow fruit. The fruit grows of itself when the tree is watered and fed the right nutrients. We water our tree with the Word of God that builds faith in us, and so the fruit grows in the form of developmental sanctification. The tree is planted in the good soil of the gospel of Christ.

There is the story about the two wolves. The first wolf is steeped in the works of the flesh, and the second wolf is full of the fruit of the Spirit. The wolf that grows more effectively is the wolf we feed. We can beat the flesh works wolf with the Bible but that will not change anything. The wolf might turn and bite us. But if we feed the fruit of the Spirit wolf with faith-building promises from God's Word, then that wolf will love us and grow into a Christ-like wolf.

Beating people over the head with the club of Moses (the Law) will only result in a beat-up, faithless religious person trying to be good in their own strength. They will be joyless and miserable, but of self-pity and condemnation, and always going to counsellors moaning about their rotten spiritual state.

But when a person comes into contact with the Holy Spirit and is filled with Him, they experience love, joy, peace, the kindness and gentleness of God, they are faithful to Christ, the goodness of Christ shines out through them, they are patient with others and totally self controlled in conduct. They are the ones who have their eyes on and full trust in the finished work of Christ and are totally taken up with Him. As a result, the fruit of the Spirit naturally grows within them.

Hello Jane, nihao. I believe immorality is not a big problem in the Lion city, isn't this true???
There is no such thing as inappropriate contentography, prostitution and divorce in Singapore.

The best way to fight sexual temptations is not to fight , ie distract yourself.
Also call on the names of Lord Jesus and Mother Mary.

i understand what you meant, but isnt it self evident that a person who is seeking freedom already knows that "engaging" with immorality is a problem? Its exactly what addicts is trying to GET OUT OF.

You are adding to the burden that ppl already have, trying to find a way out of sin...now youre saying if your not radical enough, if you dont wokr hard at it enough, your eternal destniy is in danger.

Have you heard about the gospel? Where jesus DIED for the sins of the world?

Where do adding to that come in ? Wouldnt that be saying jesus doesnt work, we need to do it ourself?

But the fruit of the spirit that is called "abstinence"...isnt that a FRUIT of the spirit and it would cause us to not fulfill the desires of the flesh. OR im i just making this up?

ITs just another religion to tell ppl to fight sins etc.
Literally, its another religion, work hard enough and you can find freedom eternal happiness and see God.
This is literally what you are saying.
WHAT is the gospel in this? What is the "good nes" to the sinner who is trying to find a way, that he is not cutting his hands off enough and since he is not diong good enough his eternal salvation is in danger...

Why fight something jesus overcame. Why not try to find out what is meant by "walking in the spirit" where "the lusts of the flesh will not be fulfilled"....
