Jayland Walker was shot on June 27th, fleeing the police after an alleged traffic offence. His body had 60 bullet wounds. It is alleged that 90 rounds were fired at Walker in the space of a few seconds.

A firearm was discovered in his car. No weapons were found on or near the body. Eight officers have been suspended from duty.

NAACP’s president, Derrick Johnson, said in a statement that Walker’s death wasn’t self-defense, but “was murder. Point blank.”

From the Guardian article: Outrage after video of police fatally shooting Jayland Walker released

Johnson added: “This Black man was killed – struck more than 60 times by 90 fired bullets – for a possible traffic violation. This doesn’t happen to white people in America. Why do police continuously target us like domestic terrorists? We are just trying to live our lives, and we are tired of being hunted like prey.”

'Murder, point blank.' What else could it be?

Hardly a case of an innocent man.

Car gets pulled over and goes up over the curb and a guy wearing a ski mask jumps out of the passenger side and runs.

Would anyone be outraged if a White or Asian doing the same thing got shot and killed?

Well, the tasers didn't work, and the police have to assume that everybody in Ohio is armed and dangerous...

But yeah, something needs to be fixed here. The cops need to be trained not to be so trigger happy. And maybe a few murder or manslaughter charges could be appropriate in this case. Considering the conditions, I think manslaughter might be more appropriate, but that's just a vague hunch. There will be a big public push for murder charges.

It does look bad but he did shoot at the police while they were chasing him and the gun was found in his car. I'm not saying the police were right but when you do things like this you are likely to have a bad outcome.

Yeah, if he did shoot at them during the car chase, that will significantly reduce the chances that any of the cops will be charged with a crime.

"moving into a firing position" police said and Police recovered a handgun, a loaded magazine. So please lets not get silly.. firing over 90 rounds and 60 in him... nothing has to be said we know thats awful. Its so easy to sit back and judge what should have happened. If this was someone else and things like this have happened yet.. oddly NEVER get said on the news or even here. Be wonderful if we fought for ALL people that get shot for no reason.

Its real yet almost sounds fake. Well hit 60 times? Something is really wrong at that police department. Even if he had a gun.. 60 times?

I think the quote goes "evil can never be dead enough".

This looks entirely justified to me.

Yes, of course. Wouldn't you?

The fact is the American police have never done that.

Being killed for a driving offence should cause outrage not who is killed by the police.

It’s as if life is cheap in America. People seem completely unruffled when the police kill people for the vaguest of reasons.

So let me get this straight. You think a bunch of police literally shot someone just for a minor driving offense? Are you deliberately omitting it or are you ignorant of the fact he shot at them first?

If he shot at them in the chase they have to assume he still has the weapon. He needed to stay in car and stick his hands in the air out the window and show he is unarmed. I would not equate this to hate but neutralizing a guy who is armed and dangerous. 90 shots 60 hits shows the officers were in close which put them in greater danger too. Once they fire it takes seconds to empty a clip so you can figure there were quite a few officers on the scene. The victim brought this on himself.

But 60 bullet wounds! That is a bit of overkill.

Law enforcement and experts in police law who have viewed body cam footage of the shooting say that the officers' response reflects standard police training.

"Officers are trained to shoot until the threat they perceive, and or reasonably believe is present, has ended," said Lance LoRusso, a lawyer who specializes in use-of-force cases.

Do you expect the police officers to count and simultaneously stop at 12 or something?
What were they shooting with, a machine gun?
