Does anyone get annoyed when someone goes "oh you're a conspiracy theorist" or says that what you bring up is a conspiracy theory? This can be troublesome to deal with and take.

There is an origin to the term. The term conspiracy theory was created in 1967 by the CIA. To discourage people from challenging whatever government propaganda or narrative is put out. You can look this up all over the search engines. The term is used to dismiss or brush them off as crazy. Especially by people who aren't in tune with hidden truths regarding their surroundings.

Isaiah 8:12 mentions the word conspiracy for some versions of the bible. What is your interpretation of that passage?

The faithful must not forget. This world is Satan's world. God is allowing him to have dominion in a world of fleshy desires that doesn't want you to acknowledge or repent of your sins. A world in rebellion against its creator.

A conspiracy is simply a secret plan by any group or person. Does the elite have secret plans? Do they always tell us everything they are doing? No... therefore there are conspiracy's in this world. By adding "theory" the CIA (if that is where it came from) cast doubt on those who make the claim that the govt might be doing something in secret. Christian did the same thing by adding "theory of" before "evolution." :) So I think there are conspiracy's and I also think beyond prayer or godly intervention, there is little we can do as individuals to force transparency.

The trouble with conspiracy theories is that they put Satan in control instead of God.

And it is NOT Satan's world.

At His Ascension, our Lord, God, and Savior Jesus Christ said, "All power is given to ME in heaven and on earth."

What part of the "all power" given to the Savior leaves anything over for Satan?

The devil is a liar and is obviously trying to make you think s/he is in control.

Actually "theory" has a different meaning in scientific terminology than in ordinary speech.

And English plurals are not formed by adding apostrophe-s. The plural of "conspiracy" is "conspiracies."

I don't disagree, but people use words for certain reasons. They are simply symbols that point to a concept, thing, or idea. Science views evolution as reality, most Christians don't, I don't. So those who don't use theory to case doubt in the same vein as the CIA might have used theory to case doubt on those who claim secret things are happening.

Thanks... I actually know that well. I was in rush, am in a rush (surprise party for elderly aunts to get to before they do) and wrote that... looked at it thinking it was wrong... and shrugged and hit post.

It depends on whether the theory is propaganda or not. If it's propaganda I would be thankful that someone would point out my gullibility, but if it were a sincere and legitimate concern, then I would be bothered if no one would listen.

Actually the term "conspiracy theory" dates from about 1871. So saying that the term "conspiracy theory" was created by the CIA to discourage or brush off people questioning government action is itself a conspiracy theory.

When the Internet came out the elites the 2% that own 90% of all the wealth knew they could no longer control information. Like they had before with their owned media. So they paid posters to flood the Internet with wild stories .So people would click on a subject and have a page after page of theories come up the more outrageous the better which you have today 90 % untruth . So people wouldn't know what to believe and give up. The oldest conspiracy in the world is the one Jesus told us about to be "Wise as serpents harmless as doves " to be wise as the serpent you have to know there are serpents.

Actually the term "conspiracy theory" dates from about 1871. So saying that the term "conspiracy theory" was created by the CIA to discourage or brush off people questioning government action is itself a conspiracy theory.
An abstract purity applied to definitions in word choices usually ignores context, that being that the term itself was "created" as a derrogation rather than a value neutral description as it used to be. Notice "collusion" has 'somehow' become a "safe" substitute.
At any rate, I think the CIA psy-op was titled "Mockingbird" if anyone is seriously interested, and the more specific reason for this part of the operation was in response to the general spike in cynicism about the "magic bullet" & "creative forensics" in the Warren Report.
It's public knowledge despite the public's ignorance, of the fact that the intelligence agencies have been writing the news scripts for awhile. Easy information to find there, it having involved congressional testimony.
The public is so entirely stupefied at this point, they can't remember, don't know, &/or don't care that their government (the corporation doing business as "The U.S.A." since 1871) has performed numerous experiments on them over decades, their wars protect corporate profit, not freedom...
You know the drill.
Face the horror.

We are speaking plainly here, are we not?

Point taken, but this isn't an English forum and applying forgiveness to typos can be extrordinarily useful in facilitating on-topic conversation.
That said,
Enjoy the forum! :)

Actually Wikipidea says the term showed up earlier than that. In fact the idea that the term "conspiracy theory" originated by the CIA in the 1960's is itself a conspiracy. See Nope, It Was Always Already Wrong - CSINope, It Was Always Already Wrong - CSI

The Oxford English Dictionary defines conspiracy theory as "the theory that an event or phenomenon occurs as a result of a conspiracy between interested parties; spec. a belief that some covert but influential agency (typically political in motivation and oppressive in intent) is responsible for an unexplained event". It cites a 1909 article in The American Historical Review as the earliest usage example,[6][7] although it also appears in journals as early as April 1870.[8]

Johnson, Allen (July 1909). "Reviewed Work: The Repeal of the Missouri Compromise: Its Origin and Authorship by P. Orman Ray". The American Historical Review. Oxford Journals for the American Historical Association via JSTOR. 14 (4): 836. doi:10.2307/1837085. JSTOR 1837085. The claim that [David R.] Atchison was the originator of the [Missouri Compromise] repeal may be termed a recrudescence of the conspiracy theory first asserted by Colonel John A. Parker of Virginia in 1880

Two warnings concerning conspiracy theories: first, we should never get ahead of what God wishes to reveal to us. God reveals the truth in mystery (Daniel 2:30; Genesis 40:8). He will tell us what we need to know in His time, and there are things we do not need to know (Mark 13:32; Revelation 10:4). We should not indulge in useless speculation that takes time and effort away from our work for Christ (1 Timothy 1:4).

Second, we should not fear. "God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:7). Many conspiracy theories feed fear and prey on ignorance and gullibility. God has called us to something better.

We've already addressed the fact of the term being created before it was demonized by the CIA, but thank you for your interest in the topic.

God already revealed who "the builders" are and what they are up to . What you are derogating as "wasted time". He HAS told us in His time - but that doesn't necessarily mean we have understood it in His time.
So here's an additional pair of warnings: Don't get behind in understanding, and don't suppose we already understand what we've been told.

We should fear God with a sound mind, not conspiracies. Fear and ignorance also work to keep us ignorant of what God has revealed.

The problem with "conspiracy theories" is that there is no solid, smoking gun, to prove either way..

Other wise they would be "Exposed" facts.

So, although it would be nice to know if it is propaganda or not... but... if this was known... there would be no theory.

but like evolution, the odds of coincidence are just too extreme. sure, you might get 1 in a million wrong (or less), if u rely on statistics. but those who believe in coincidence theories sure believe in a *lot* of chance. its a wonder they don't complain that the lotto is rigged, because they didnt win.
