You will need to first point out how those two quotes differ in meaning and intent. No, here is what you really said:
Wanna go back and try to wiggle out of your "dishonesty" (being polite in using this term) or do you just want to continue to be "dishonest" (polite word again).
So busted.....the dishonesty must be a heavy load to carry......then again, maybe not so much....You will need to first point out how those two quotes differ in meaning and intent.
Actually, I don't....anyone reading it will see the dishonesty of your 2 very different quotes...You will need to first point out how those two quotes differ in meaning and intent.
It seems to me that you place value in reasoning correctly.
Am I right?
The reason I'm asking is because you made mention several times of fallacies. You pointed out what you thought were fallacies or errors in reasoning.
Errors in reasoning can only exist if there is a right way to reason, right?
My question for you is, why do you think that whatever it is you consider to be "right reason" is right?
In that case, I'm very intellectually honest. I humble myself, and leave it to God.If you don't know the answer, then the only intellectually honest thing to do would be to admit that you don't know, not to claim that you've figured it out.
Then why did you pretend to have figured it out?In that case, I'm very intellectually honest. I humble myself, and leave it to God.
Me? No. But I'm sure there are people who have a sincere belief in unicorns. Can you honestly manufacture a sincere belief in unicorns at will?
I didn't see an answer, sorry. What determines right and wrong in people?I answered your question @Root of Jesse. So are you going to present your case or not?
I believe that is the very definition of figuring it out. Then why did you pretend to have figured it out?
Why should you care about the well-being of those around you? Honestly, most of the world today is in a state of "What's in it for me?", at least most of the Western World. The very reasons for single parent homes, sex without commitment, abortion, and many other things is just that-much of the western world is in a state of "What's in it for me?" regardless of how it might hurt someone else.It does, if you care about living in a functional society where you can maximise your well-being and the well-being of those you care about.
If you don't care about well-being, you're probably not going to care about morality either.
I don't have any "argument from ignorance". That's a category, like I was referring to.Errr... Actually, this is just about rational discourse. Argument from ignorance is a logical fallacy. Maybe you just don't care about being rational in your thought process and / or argumentation?
Which you haven't done, in my case. Maybe in your own mind...If someone points out a fallacy in my reasoning, I thank them.
I think you need to learn to read for comprehension. That's not what I said. There's not much to know about it... I mean, you were pretty clear in that post....
You literally suggested to inject god in places where ignorance reigns.
Faith takes humility, which you obviously have none of. You do think you got it all figured out, but you don't.Errrrrr.... okay.
Reality doesn't care about my metaphorical heart though. "metaphorical", because my physical heart is just a blood pump, off course. It's my brain that does the thinking and emotion generation.
"know-it-all"? Because I point out a blatant logical fallacy?
Owkay then.
ps: emotional appeal is a fallacy too. ;-)
So the society where they left people to die if they couldn't fend for themselves, and spent their time conquering the next piece of land, regardless of what the people that inhabited the land wanted...that was a 'cooperative society'...hmmmOff course.
Okay, so you concede the point, finally.Me? No. But I'm sure there are people who have a sincere belief in unicorns.
Pretending is the very definition of figuring it out?I believe that is the very definition of figuring it out.
But we Christians do not leave it at that. Exactly my point.Dude...... that's literally a god-of-the-gaps argument. Literally.
How about this, for a change: "...when you get to a point where there is no known cause... you say I don't know." and leave it at that?
So?ps: everything known today was unkown at some point....
The cause of desease.
The cause of lightning.
The cause of tides.
The cause of volcano eruptions.
The cause of storms.
...
To use your phrase...DUDE...you do realize that a great many of the scientists that discovered the stuff we know today were Christian? But the fact is that the very existence of everything requires a cause. And the only reason why these things are today known, is because scientists of the past took no satisfaction with the non-answer of "god(s)-dun-it".
Yes you do. You presented a textbook-worthy example of an argument from ignorance.I don't have any "argument from ignorance".
Are you going for irony? You literally pretended to know the answer to one of the most enduring mysteries of all. Yet you're the humble one? Oh please...Faith takes humility, which you obviously have none of. You do think you got it all figured out, but you don't.
