How do you specifically come to understand the meaning of scripture then?

Through prayer and discussion. No men fed me any interpretation, I understood it from inner inspiration that came from God. How can you understand anything about that inspiration if you don't believe in God?

Ok, you get you're interpretation of scripture from inner inspiration from God.

How does this work exactly? Does God talk to you specifically about what the correct interpretation is? Or, is it just a feeling you get or a dream like state in which you obtain the interpretation?

I have to ask again though, is you're inner inspiration from God in regards to interpreting scripture infallible?

God gives me an understanding of what a verse is talking about, and then point me to verses I have not even read about that confirm the understanding given.

It is infallible because the one interpretation given to me rings true for the entire Bible.

You're mechanism of obtaining interpretation of scripture is infallible then, according to you.

If anyone disagrees with you're interpretation then, it must mean they are wrong, correct?

How does God point you to other verses? Does he talk to you?

bhsmte, let me talk this through.

You are an atheist. As such, you categorically deny the substance and authenticity of the Bible. You also deny the existence of God and deny God can have any sort of influence on humans other than that of superstitious belief. Am I on track so far?

Since you've pretty much said this in other posts, you're stuck with saying 'yes' to the above - or exposing yourself as self-contradictory.

So my question is, how do you even pretend to have any standing to ask any of the questions you've asked in the last page or so? You have no knowledge of the subject, no grasp of God and no credential to suggest you have any interest in the subject. Other than a desperate and pathological need to deny it all.

Say good night, Gracie.

You must be a very privileged person - just like all the others who claim the same but come up with different understandings.

There is no such thing as being privileged, it is a promise of God to His people. It is even depicted in the Bible that early Christians were of one mind and understanding.

It´s not in the Bible that WoundedDeep would be the one who will get it right of all, though.

Who said I deny the contents or substance of the bible? It is a book of many stories, written by many authors (some anonymous) and they are real theological writings and should be treated as such. Now, when it comes to whether the claims in scripture are true, that requires substantiation that falls short in the eyes of many NT historians. And yes, I am atheist towards the Christian God and I can not reconcile the Christian story with reality.

Since you've pretty much said this in other posts, you're stuck with saying 'yes' to the above - or exposing yourself as self-contradictory.

See above.

So my question is, how do you even pretend to have any standing to ask any of the questions you've asked in the last page or so? You have no knowledge of the subject, no grasp of God and no credential to suggest you have any interest in the subject. Other than a desperate and pathological need to deny it all.

No knowledge of the subject? I was a Christian for 40 years and have studied the work of NT scholars and historians in depth and you say I have no knowledge of the subject??????????

Say good night, Gracie.

The issue is, I like to understand how people can support their beliefs and I ask questions. If they don't want to answer, they don't have to. Furthermore, I have never questioned a Christians faith on this board unless the following occurs, which it has on this thread:

-a Christian claims they have objective evidence for their beliefs
-they have a negative attitude towards non-believers and claim they are blind, are ignoring the evidence of God or being led astray
-they misrepresent well evidenced science

There are some Christians that stay away from the above and I never question their beliefs. It seems though, it is more common for Christians to engage in some or all of the above.

Good night Gracie.

The Bible did say to all Christians: "Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives to all generously and without criticizing, and it will be given to him. (James 1:5)

I asked, and I received since God does give to all who ask. Are you trying to discredit me? Or are you trying to discredit what the Bible plainly states?

If God gives to all that ask, I would think there are others who claim to interpret scripture based on what God inspires them to believe. So, with so many different interpretations of scripture amongst Christians, is God not capable of giving every Christian the same interpretation, through divine inspiration?
