Easy folks. Ann Coulter is a smart observer of the political scene, but she has long been an independent thinker, so it is not as though some unimaginable rift in the party has occurred with this turn of events. Or that it was unexpected. Or that she hasn't done such a thing before.

Well, Tigger, judging by everything I read, what the president would do if and when a compromise bill was worked out...and passed by both houses of Congress...was the subject of a lot of speculation from all sides right up until today.

Ann Coulter herself had said that IF he were to do what he finally did, it would be a great mistake (and other conservatives said that also). That is why I wrote that it should not be thought unexpected of her to have dissed him as she did today. Besides, she also included an olive branch with her condemnation, but no one is talking about that of course.

Republicans nipping at each other is nothing new. Coulter has always been trying to be more conservative, more extreme, than the conservative establishment. She's said some very ridiculous statements in the past, after all, that make what Trump has to say look more like harmless gaffs.

In this case, she's just angry because a politician had to compromise, and for her that's a great betrayal. Because she's an ideologue, not a politician. Politicians must deal with what is possible.

My point was Trump’s M.O. hasn’t changed but Coulter is finally recognizing it.
