I am digesting this. Obey = believe = security ? I understand that there can only be assurance when there is belief. Not believing would mean there is nothing to have assurance in because there is no belief. But, when a man wanders away from The Lord, what has to happen to a man to "come to his senses" as in Luke 15 ? Does a man re-kindle his own belief, or does God woo the man back to Himself as He did the the first time ?Romans 10:16 But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, Lord, who has believed our report?
2 Thessalonians 1:8 in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Hebrews 5:9 And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,
Notice in Romans 10:16, Paul equates believing with obeying. The assurance comes from Hebrews 5:9, which states Jesus became the author of eternal salvation to ALL WHO OBEY HIM.
