I went to boblarson.org, and the first thing I saw was how to buy two of his latest books. He's not getting any of my money. To me, it's sounds like he's marketing sensationalism, and most likely making a huge profit. Also, if you link to Mr. Larson's site from the following Gospelcom article, you will discover that his site's domain was changed from .com, a commercial domain, to .org, an organizational domain. Hmmm... intriguing...

Here is a description given by the Gospelcom archive (bolding mine):

    Larson, Bob
Increasingly sensationalistic and (deservedly) controversial radio/TV "evangelist," known for attacking rock music, alleged demons, wallets and critics (real or perceived).

Statements made by Bob Larson should not be considered representative of mainstream Christian beliefs and/or practices.

Some, pointing to "Larson's Book of Cults," think Larson is a cult expert. In fact, he considers himself to be one. The META "description" tag at his site reads: "Bob Larson -- The world's foremost Christian authority on cults and the occults." However, those familiar with the field of countercult ministry know that his claim is patently false.

Matter of fact, the information in the book was provided by two researchers of the Christian Research Institute, and put together by Larson.
[As told by Walter Martin, at Bible Class, March 11, 1984 - RealMedia].

Apologetics Index suggests that those looking for Christian experts on cults and the occult contact ministries like Watchman Fellowship, or join the AR-talk mailing list.

I've read that before and I'm kind of inclined to agree with it, however I feel that demons do operate today. . .
I've seen his deliverances on TV. Are they fake? Or real?

He says he can deliver people from curses and demons.
I really want to know because I'm considering going to one of his "Spiritual Warfare Conferences" next time he visits San Diego, although my parents, friends and even pastor think he's at best a lot of hype.
The reason? I think I'm under a curse. I'm sad and cry a lot, sometimes it feels like I have a hole in my wallet because of how quickly my money is gone (I tithe 10 percent so my financial misfortune is not due to not tithing), I still want to play RPGs, I have bad thoughts, and I am ill with every flu or cold that goes around.
Also I could be cursed because I'm of partial Native American descent, I played console RPGs for 8 or 9 years, and I recently spoke to a Wiccan in another MB, who was a supporter of h****i. I said the garbage was evil. She responded in anger and probably cursed me.
So I'm very afraid of being under this curse or curses, and I don't want to be cursed anymore.
So what do you think?

    To Susan:

I think you should make an appointment with your family doctor immediately for a complete physical, and make sure you tell him or her the symptoms you've been having.

It sounds like you might be suffering from depression, and the proper medication will do wonders for your outlook on life, your self-esteem, and your peace of mind.

By no means am I denying the possibility of curses, for such evil does exist. However, as someone who has experienced depression first hand, I KNOW the helplessness you can feel and the panic and the extreme frustration. Depression is caused by a PHYSICAL problem, an imbalance of the chemicals in the brain. And it can be successfully treated with medication.

    Make that appointment tomorrow morning!

    Peace be with you,
    ~VOW

Before anyone puts any confidence in anything Bob Larson says, I suggest reading this article in its entirety:

    Bob Larson's Ministry Under Scrutiny

If half of the things this article says are true, then I wouldn't trust Bob Larson any further than I could toss one of his "millionaire estates".

Edit: Ok, I have NO idea why I put that quote on this thread. LOL :D

My friend used to work for his show.

    He's a fraud.

They would stage callers to make the show controversial and to make it seem like wild, goth, drug-addicted listeners were getting saved. Some of the calls were real, but most of the time there weren't enough interesting callers, so they had staff members pretend to be lost teenagers, satanists and such. They would really ham it up, then pretend to be reach by Bob and get "saved."

The point of the show is fund-raising to support Bob and the show, not to spread the word of God. period.

Oh, and one more thing, most of what he says about demons comes from Greek and Muslim mythology, and little of it comes from the Bible.

I think they do to, but mostly it is just humans being mean and stupid toward one another.

A person can be saved by a non-believer's actions, but you are saved by your choice, not whoever is witnessing to you.

I would tend to agree with your parents and friends, I've heard his show and read his books. Most of it is so poorly researched I wondered if he wasn't just making half of it up as he went along.

Save your money and find a good Christian councelor, your pastor should be able to refer you to one.

:) No that is just the way money goes, you never will have enough for what you want. That is why it is such a problem, get with your pastor again and see if someone in the church can help you learn to budget better. You'll be suprised by how much money one can waste without thinking of it as a waste.

While RPG's are not inherently evil(like money is not inherently evil but if you love money more than God it becomes a big problem), if the Lord does not want you to play them then get with your church again and see if you can't join up with a Christian activity group, like the ones that meet a few times a week and do something fun. I'll bet you'll think less about being sad and missing RPG's if you replace that activity with another more constructive one.

We are saved from the consequences of our sins, Believing in Jesus will not imediatly stop our wanting to sin(the wanting if immediate gratification for most people causes them to sin). The walk with the Lord is just that a walk, every step you take the better you become, but the path is not always easy and is often quite long. Just remember as you walk with Jesus he holds your hand to comfort you and guide you in life.

See your doctor and remembet to take good care of your body. Most people get sick because they dont eat right and stay fit, not demons.

  When was that a sin? If it is than no one told me and they should of since I'm part indian too. God does not care who your ancestors were, remember you've been adopted by Jesus, you're in His family now.

Again, you are forgiven by Jesus do not hold sins God has forgoton against your self.

Hehehe Wiccans Hehehe Sorry, I new a lot of true witches, they laugh at Wiccans. But if you are really that worried, have your Church pray for you. And don't pick fights with non-believers, it is a poor way to witness.

If Lambslove or someone else could reply, what in Bob Larson's system goes beyond the Word of God and into Greek and Islamic mythology?

    Hi Susan!

The whole demon heirarchy that he talks so much about is not from the Bible, it's from mythologies.

Greek and Hindu mythologies have a lot of trouble-maming demons, as does Islam, and Bob talks all the time about incubus and succubus and the other categories of demons. The Bible says nothing about them.

Try looking through the Bible to find any of the demon stuff he talks about. Do a word-search for incubus or succubus. Nothing comes up. All of his demonology is made up or from non-biblical sources.

Hm, I think I will do that.
Larson's stuff does sort of remind me of a magical worldview. Like there's allegedly a demon behind every bush
(and NO, I am NOT insulting the President lol :D )
